I still don't know how yet but, HPT only saves the file encrypted. The PCM file should be edited as BIN while loaded into memory while the software is up. HPT says it is impossible to turn an HPT file back to BIN but they are full of it. The file is written to the PCM and must be BIN so the software CAN convert the HPT file back to BIN.
If you are savy enough, you should be able to find the BIN file loaded in memory somewhere. Might be loaded to a binary file in parts in the registry.
That or find some software that can sniff the USB data stream when reading or doing a full write.
I know it is possible, I just haven't figured it out yet. Apparently some people have disabled the encryption when saving the file resulting in the BIN unencrypted but still tagged as HPT. Just change the extension and bing, there it is. Wish I knew, there are some hints. If you figure it out, please tell me too.
