  • Initial scan, hunting idle

3500 using 3400 Pcm and GTP injectors (flow rate 220)

Idle is hunt a bit 25 to 50 Rpm, worse the lower the idle.
I used Tech2 and idle smooths out after 1100 commanded Rpm.

    Checked for Vac leaks, none.

here is a quick scan at Operating temp.

edit, should also mention that this is a Manual trans.

fueling is off. I don't know if 220 is right or not as DHP is different values than HPT.

What tells you my fueling is off?
My AFPR from TCE doesnt seem to be working correctly, pressure is @ 55psi with or without vacuum.

This is how I came with my IFR for injectors

      using GTP injectors

      Stock injectors for the 3400 were 22.5 @ 55psi
      Gtp are 36 @ 50psi

      stock IFR for the 3400 with 22.5 @ 55psi is 371

by staying with the Stock 55psi they would flow 37.7571
      So 22.5/37.7571 = .5959 * stock 371 IFR, new IFR would be 221.

That is odd that it doesn't change pressure with vacuum.

What PSI are those injectors at for their 36# rating? your LTFT tells me your fueling is off.

the 36# were at 50psi, so I converted that to 55psi they would flow 37.7571

Something really off with the afpr, if I lower the psi below 50 the Vacuum seems to change the pressure,

Might be because its based on a stock regulator and they wouldn't increase above 50 based on vacuum alone.

May have to get a stock fpr and recheck, then if it works better, transfer the TCE cap over.

You think this would cause the idle hunt?

Basically a Stock 3400 tune except for Injector flow rate and some DTCs, I am just starting out the tune.

              Engine went in this weekend.

                Any tips?
Wideband bung should be here this morning, and replacing fuel filter as well.
Not sure if I am trusting my HO2s currently.
If it is doesn't corelate with the WB I will replace it.

Not much tuning done at all, but this is what I have to work with.

Just that one test, just to see what I am up against lol,

since it was a stock 3500 running stock 3400 code, was hoping it would be a little closer.

Just starting my VE tune now, having problems with the Table Modifier though.

I follow the book, when I try to import my new VE table it fails because it is missing variables ?

                            Rob,
What did you find out about your fuel pressure? The pressure should change with vacuum unless the spring is bottomed out. Can you adjust the pressure higher?

It was acting really funny, but I knew my Fuel Filter was probably plugged as when I replaced the pump 2 weeks ago it was siezed on.
I had let it sit and soak and have finally replaced it.

Pressure does seem drop a very tiny bit with vacuum, but not much.
I have been busy at work and not had a chance to get to it again.

This one was the complete unit, what Base do you use? pre 2000 ? or newer?
I was thinking of getting a new 2000+ base (55psi) and try that.
