  • VE tuning fails

UPDATE: I figured out what I was doing wrong. I forgot to disable DTC p0103. Apparently it was the difference that made it work. I also set the injectors to 35.5 after I tested the p0103 issue. It ran as I suspected it should have, a little rich at first. Although, the idle was climbing into the 1.5k ranges.

With the MAF enabled, the idle stayed at 800rpm give or take 10. That was after the CASE relearn. So, all systems seem good again, thank god. Tomorrow or saturday, I'll be tuning the VE tables then the MAF. As I understand it, that is the last step I need to do before I can go WOT. Then it will be a WOT tuning. Oh man, I'm getting excited.

    END UPDATE

So I decided to start tuning the VE tables. I followed all the instructions and set the MAF to fail at 0Hz. The car started fine and idled at 15.5 AFR. But after a few moments it would go lean, past 20 AFR and die. Scared me because I thought OH NO, it went toooo lean, lol. But I set the MAF to normal and it ran fine again w/o error.

    Any idea what has happened?

The injectors are 36# and they are set as 32.44# in the PCM, so if anything, it should run rich. I noticed the VE for the idle rpm was 45. Is that tooo low?

    Any advise would be great.

    Thanks

Your VE table could be that far off.
Why are the injectors set to 32.44? set them to 36lbs,or whatever corresponds to your pressure.

What was recently done to the car? Did it enter closed loop or limp mode?
More info or some datalogs (preferably in .csv) would help,I don't know anything about your application.
Not that I could help if I did,but I could spew some more questions or mindless dribble that might or might not help.

*nm,I see you worked it out I guess. misunderstood which was update and original.

Wow, this post was some time ago. Before I even realized the fuel pump was burning up.

I made some long strides since this post, lol. Now I'm ripping up the highway, hehe.

I got to work on some videos real soon. I have a professional musicians microphone I can use with my laptop to record the sound with the video, so it will sound extra clean and crisp.
