  • Tuning 1996 GM 3x00

I now know DHP Tuners can tune 96 ECU's. But good luck finding one for sale. I can't find any atm.

And knowing this customer support is zero.

Is there ANY effective tuner available other then DHP that can tune a 96 3x00 GM ecu?

getting desperate here. This is the last leg on my turbo project. If this falls through, the whole project fails.

unless someone can suggest a computer swap that will wire up and is HP Tuner tunable?

I really don't want to take on an aftermarket piggyback project. My head is about to explode just working out the details of a turbocharger project.

HPT doesn't do the 96 PCM. unless they've added it recently.

I emailed two dyno tuners in my area. Hopefully they can tune my ride for me.

Aside from that, will a 97 Lumina ecu mate up to a 96 Grand Prix?

I read it will but don't remember where and I am sceptical but hopeful. Would like opinions before I purchase. It may just be the answer.

        What about this...

What if I install a universal adjustable FPR and bump up the pressure until the wideband O2 shows optimal A/F ratio? Stock injectors I think are 17-19#'ers. Will this be effective for 36#'s w/ stronger FP? Only running 4-7 psi boost. Starting at 4 and gently working up, when installed. Or will I need an FMU along side that set up?

Basically, can I get away w/ the Adj FPR at low boost?

You can use other Pcms, would need the engine harness for it (or make your own) either way there will be some customization needed.

Next, would be, will all gauges etc work? unless they are hard wired or someone has done it before, you may not know untill your done.

Example, 99 Alero 3400 Pcm will not send gauge data to a 2000 + Jbody, but a 2000 Impala 3400 Pcm will, it will send gauge info over dataline to IPC.

          Thats just one example.

Since your dealing with older models (much of the data is hardwired and doe not run on dataline) you may be in luck.
First step would be to get both Complete Engine/gauge wiring diagrams for both models and compare.

Now if someone has already done this exact swap, then you will know if/not it will work.
