  • DHP PowrTuner

I remember about 4 years ago when PowrTuner was selling their products you had to select which year car you had and model. My question is can all PowrTuner's now modify PCM's in 3.4 DOHC, 3100's, 3800's, ect. I remembering hearing they were locked to a certain car. Has that changed or is that set in the hardware from the PowrTuner?

They are no longer locked to a specific vehicle, it can be used on any vehicle it supports (even though your still not *supposed* to).

Download the latest version 1.2.4 from this website along with the DB update, and you will be free to tune other cars.

I strongly advise to NOT tune for someone else because when it breaks who's liable? I guess if you can come to an agreement that will never be crossed then tune on, but I stay away from vital changes because I don't want to be told I blew up their motor.

Unless you are RSM and you are selling a SC Kit, I wouldn't worry too much about that

weren't they the ones that thought they could disable the maf on the grand am permanently.

As dumb as that sounds, Loner also thought having his MAF disconnected allowed his turbo corsica to run better... I think it was just lack of a good MAF tune... He should have upgraded his maf to a larger one.

yeah but remember what i told you before you cant do that with the electronic pressure controlled transmissions. once you unplug the maf the pressure goes to the max the transmission is set at in the bin which is 90, it also slams into every gear.

saw the same thing with the GTO's too. the manual guys can do a speed density tune where as the auto guys cant cause of this issue.

you run with it unplugged to and not have transmission issues since yours is vac controlled.

iirc it was Johnv63400 or something like that and he ended up blowing his engine up due to this. he was on here but the posts were prob too old so they got purged.

Nothing gets purged. You may need to change your settings to show ALL threads, not just the past year or so...

I wonder if you can lower the max line pressure to say 60 when doing a speed density tune. Just something to keep the trans from trying to tear it's guts out on every shift. I'm sure I'm not the first person to think of this.

I think the trans pressure tables are overridden by a static value... and I'm not sure if he can see/edit that static value...

                      I'll look into that one.

I found a table in Tiny Tuner called MAX Shift Pressure, its set for 90, so I guess I could edit that down to 60 for you unless you have that program as well.

I have tiny tuner and will check that at a later date. Right now my trans slips on every 1-2 shift when it gets above 140*F. It's really bad at 180+. Going through another VE tune and then relearning TAPS again may just kill it.
