  • AE enrichment?

ok so no i got the car all straightened out im gonna head on to tuning.

one issue i got to address is the stumble upon accel and under load. Jon suggested i bump my AE table up, but where and how much is the question.

now the values stayed the same for 99 and 00 but changed in 01. for mine after 40% its 25 till 100%. in 01 its not like that its a various range in gradual steps.

ill post up the csv files so you guys can get an idea on what im rambling on about.

im using the 3500 spark tables along with the VE for the 3500. Maf still has the 5% i added a long time ago.

ill post up my bin just for topic stuff.

I would start with an overall increase of 5%. Since you have a 3500 instead of 3400, it will be sort of a touch and feel deal to get it right.

I have more files from the 3500, but I have only used the VE and Timing so far.

well after a couple of VE tunes and 3 rounds of maf tunes with the new intake setup my fuel trims are in the respected +/-5% range mostly ranging in the 0 to-5% are going slightly positive on heavy accel.

ended up at 1.5 in the AE mph modifier with a stock 99 ae percentage table(forget the real name but its the one with the percentages) and i gotta say its 99% spot on as far as accelerating smoothly.

might do another round of VE tuning but the LTFT are 100% better than they were a few weeks ago. id have to look at the scans but iirc they were super positive.

just gotta get a different air filter to fit over the end of the maf and then it will be a straight 3.5in shot to the throttle body with no restrictions anywhere.

What table are you modding in AE? I get this strange fall in RPM under hard acceleration and my WB reports that my AFR stays steady at 13:1
This may be the fix Im looking for here, Id like to try. Sorry guys, I cant remove that thumbnail, should not be here. I tried to edit the post and it wont let me remove it!

                AE mph modifier section
i left the other one alone. look at the ae.csv i posted in the first thats the one i left alone.

unknowingly i had a defective coil pack or icm which was giving me the stumble. while adjusting this value relieved it in cruising and mild load under WOT it would feel like i was running on 4 cyl.

what year is your car. what kind of engine mods do you have going on with it.
another thing how are your coil packs, icm, plug wires and plugs.

Heads, cam, upper and lower intakes, headers and SLP exhaust. New coils, wires and plugs, less than 2,000 kms on them. Engine has under 2,000 kms on the build, just done a couple of weeks ago. Had the heads fully tested when they were off as well and came back 100%. This was my second time having the motor built, the block puked and Milzy replaced it for me with a really nice one

You know what, it is quite possibe that I may have blown a pack, Im shifting at 6800 and I think these coils may have trouble with that range or RPM. Guys use the stock coils for big HP on a lot of these cars, but I don't know if they are hitting these kinds of RPM's

my coil packs and icm had maybe 8k miles on them if i was lucky. which is why i never suspected them.

i still gotta test the packs and the icm to find whats dead. all i did was swap out the whole coil pack and icm assembly and it ran awesome afterwards.

I did find part of my problem today. A very, very dirty MAF. The sensors were coated in crap and the housing was a mess as well. Can't believe I missed something so dam simple. Spent an hour or so cleaning it and man it fixed more than I thought! My shifts just came back the way I remember them to be too. I reset the fuel trims and will have a look at them tomorrow, see what needs adjusting as far as the MAF table goes. It still is not 100% but Ill drive it a bit today and see how it feels. I need to test these coils, you know what the resistance should be on these?

reset the fuel trims and drive around for about an hour and see what they are then. i usually do fuel trim learning when i got to drive somewhere that will take at least a half an hour then on the way home i log the data.

thats cool it was something simple like that. thats how it was with me. i spent a week trying different things with the tune only to find out it was the coils/icm.

rather than me typing and rambling on
heres a pic see the pic for the resistance but its between 5-7k

i tried to do an attachment on site here but it downsized it so you would need a magnifying glass to see it

                            no problem.
i figured the picture would be easier to make sense of than me typing. plus if you want to you can print it out if your cars not near a computer.

Bro is coming by today with his oms tester. I have 3 coils in the garage and Im going to test the lot, get three tested good ones on the car. It's still stumbling at idle, I bet it is a bad coil. I'll know today for sure if he makes it by.
