if an engine that came from the factory with an ecu that also controls an auto trans, if an older-non electronically controlled transmission were mated to it-could the trans control just be kind of "capped off" without the engine throwing a fit?

ive done loads of searching & am still searching but havent found at all what ive been looking for because most of the threads involve early 90s engines & obdI whereas im needing this info for the OBDII. there are TONS of threads & i am going through them looking for answers but sadly i am yet to find any (i read in one of them that with a chip like one from WOT that the trans controls can be removed as well as the EGR-is this true?).

93 700r4-the last year for the engine/trans management to be separate-and a 4.0 aurora engine. i didnt really want to say what the engine is for fear of being blasted for it, but ive always wanted to swap one of those into a camaro or rwd. do you happen to know anything about the PCM used in those engines or alike considering they are still a chevy?

Old ECM run the trans and new ECM run the engine. Some sensors will have to be shared between the 2, but that is your best bet to get it running.-Brad-

The only thing electronic about that trans is the converter lockup. You can get a separate controller for it from Summit or not use the lockup buy leaving the connector for it unplugged. It won't hurt the trans, just MPG. Then use MS for the 4.0. In the end it would be easier than trying to get a stock PCM tuned for a unique setup.Your local OBDII moderator

so basically its not feasible to even try and mess with the stock PCM? also is there any way i could get a computer controlled rwd auto trans & have the pcm control that with the stock settings or is that just crazy talk?
im really wary of the whole MS thing because i just flat out dont have the knowledge to tune it once its hooked up-nor do i know anyone who does.Last edited by no_doz; 03-25-2009, 07:46 PM.
