  • 5 speed swap tuning

getting ready to finish up a 5 speed swap (282) into the alero (3400), just wondering if there is anything electrical to get it to work right? I have HP tuners to work with.

    Thanks, Kyle

The 6 speed swap thread on gagt.com called out all the different electrical "tweaks" you need to make for the PCM to be happy.

hey i am planning a 3x00 swap (actualy a 3.4 for now) in a G-Body and using a 700-R4 trans (came in the 80's 2.8's i think). i want to use an OBD2 PCM becuase i have HPT. would these "tweaks" work to make it think it was a manual so i could use the 700-r4?

        sorry for the thread jack

What harness are you using to do the 3x00 swap? The "tweaks" that I mentioned are only for 99-05 N-bodies. I'm not sure that your G-body even came with an electronically controlled transmission. If so, then the "tweaks" wouldn't apply to you.

OBD1 would be so much easier in that application.. start off with 3.1 auto bin file and tune it for the 3400.
