the a-body setup uses a MAF only.... and i released the starter pack for the 1.5 to 1 3100s that way it would all be ready to literally, burn and go.

kind of an odd order to go about it, but you might open up a new path for those who like MAFs and don't want to pay for OBD2...
if you use the BURN2, it does all of the math necessary, so don't worry about that. as long as you select the correct chip in the menu, then it will work just fine.

Good to know about burn2 as that is what I will have,I got that little adapter that, you use to read the original chip, hoefully I can read it,save it and edit it,then burn the changes I have made, hopefully lol.. Is there a place that details how to use Tp,and what everything in there means?

HDR1 is what you use for reading the stock chip. works like a charm for me, i read the PROMs from the GP and the MC with no issues.
if for some reason you can't get a good read off of it, i have one $1FA BIN already that would work for you.
how to use TP: scattered all over the internet, i know there are a few recent threads here where we described a lot of it.
explanation of all of the constants/flags/tables: ..............that might take a bit longer. every codemask uses different methods of fuel/spark calculation, the 94-95 3100 A-body ECM being a MAF setup, my knowledge of it is fairly limited, i prefer VE tables, so i learned that instead. but most of the principles the OBD2 guys base their tuning off of will apply.

If you are going to DOHC setup, then just start with that... The A body setup does not use a MAP. So if the MAF takes a crap, so does your car...sigpic New 2010 project (click image)

Right, but with like OBD2 where it can fall back to speed density, which you can tune too, it's going to be running rough... Especially if you had a modified or swapped engine...sigpic New 2010 project (click image)

luckily the DIY community has dropped that cost significantly:
the definitions are obviously free
tunerpro is a pay-if-you-like setup with NO restrictions on the features
i've been pounding out tons of datalogging definitions lately
really, all you need to pay for is hardware.
BURN2 is ~85, G1 is like ~35, couple of chips for ~10-15, a high-quality ALDL cable for ~60, and you have everything necessary to tune whatever you need.
TCOBDII came out and was around $350 for the full setup and one definition,TC OBDII does NOT vin-lock at all.
JET bought the licensing and jacked the price up to $500,with two available VIN's you can program with the option of buying more VIN's/Licenses similar to HPT/EFILIVE.
Since John sold the licensing to Jet,he can no longer sell the product-but entered into a deal with moates I guess to keep it available (non VIN-locked).
To do that,it had to be a package deal I guess-hence the $2500 price tag.
For that you get the program,2 def files, unlimited reprograms/unlimited VINS,not to mention realtime licensing and the roadrunner.
JET screwed it all up,John at TC is awesome and sold/sells a heck of a product.

Sounds like Jet marketed it for a performance shop for that price, They did not consider the end user when they designed the package.
HPTuners is still the best way to go when it comes to individual car programming, unless you can find a DHP unit since those are fully unlocked with the current programming software. Granted supported Bins are limited to 05 or 06 years I think... No new stuff since that boat has stopped sailing.
I just went on their website and I was able to find the Jet DST for 499 specific to a 2000 Malibu just for an example. They seem to support 98+ models the most... I checked for a 98 Grand Am... Unfortunately does not appear to cover 1997 models.
