what BINs are you looking at?

for simplicity, i suggest starting with the one i made.

if you want to go out and try it completely on your own, start with BHAK. keep in mind that will be using the LQ1 fuel and spark tables... the fuel is pretty close stock, but there is WAY too much advance. the 3.1 has a good start on the spark table, but could use refineing...

        REQUIRE? no

i'm certainly not going to suggest that you do it either, i'm just sharing my expierence on the subject.

if you want to send a donation somewhere, send it to brad and ben to keep the site up.

Tunercats for OBDII can program 96 and up 3.8/3100/3400/3800 pcms.
It is only available as JET DST now though, and expensive (not worth it imo).
You can buy direct from moates an entire TCII package with the roadrunner setup, but not seperately.
With the roadrunner setup it runs 2500$ I think, that includes one definition file I believe.

and the worst part is that it only includes one definition! for 2500 i could buy EVERY TC american OBD1 definition and still have $600 left over! and that covers damn near every GM vehicle from 82-95.

luckily the DIY community has dropped that cost significantly:

                          the definitions are obviously free

tunerpro is a pay-if-you-like setup with NO restrictions on the features

i've been pounding out tons of datalogging definitions lately

really, all you need to pay for is hardware.

BURN2 is ~85, G1 is like ~35, couple of chips for ~10-15, a high-quality ALDL cable for ~60, and you have everything necessary to tune whatever you need.

pretty soon I will be ordering my burn 2 and all other required stuff, ziff socket extra chips... the total was like 150$,I am going to lowes or somewhere of the sort to find a suitable box to place my new,not so weather proof box in,then cut holes in it and place my connectors.. Should be a blast!

a 9396 is weatherproof, did you grab something else?

I got one from a buick that had a 3100,maf,and a map sensor,I assume it will fire up right off the bat, with no programming, good thing to,cause I dont think I understan any of the settings in TP,hopefully I can figure it all out,Start with fueling, then my timing,I am bound to mess something up in there :P
