I recently purchased a used powrtuner with the 2.8 firmware. It came with a cd with the 1.2.4 software, the keyspan adapter, associated cables, and a spare pcm. I've had it since the middle of August and due to an issue with the registration form on gmv6pcm, I've been unable to register to the forum. I've talked with Steven through several help tickets and he's trying to help me get an account. Even though I don't have access to the forum, a friend of mine created a thread for me over there pertaining to this particle topic.
Now that I've gotten through the background info, on to my problem. I have a 2004 Monte Carlo 3400. I can read the pcm just fine. I can also read my DHPv1.0 pcm. However, I cannot write to either one of those pcms without getting an error. I can start the write process and I get to step 17 when it fails and gives me the error message. The error states: error: 255 severity: 2, Mode 34 Unauthorized Access.
I DLed a bin file for a 2005 Impala 3400 from this site. I was able to write it to a spare pcm just fine. Once a security learn was done, the car ran fine. I tweaked some things in the Impala file (basically some trans settings, raised rev limiter, and fuel cut off points) and tried to load it to the car. Failure again with the same error.
Over the past week, I logged a bit and used the table modifier to create a new MAF table. I imported the MAF table and went out to load the file into the car. That's when I bricked my first pcm. The PT started to write the file and about halfway through it started over again only to fail. Every attempt to salvage the pcm resulted in a message about the PT not recognizing the PCM or OSID and that a full write was necessary. Upon attempting a full write, I got the same message and the cycle would start all over again.
Frustrated, I installed my stock pcm. I did a read of the pcm to make sure everything was cool. That worked fine. I did a mass import of the fuel, spark, and transmission tables from my Impala file. After saving the file, I attempted to write the file to my pcm. I got the error at step 17 a couple of times and on my last try, it started writing. About 85% through the write, it started over with the write process. This happened about 3 times before it finally wrote to the pcm completely. I waited a minute and finally started the car.
I'm a little worried about my problem as I only have two pcms now. And I have no idea if one of them will brick the next time I go to write to it.
Also, where in the heck is the CASE learn feature in the program? I couldn't find it to save my life. I had to use my Aeroforce Scangauge to do it because I absolutely couldn't find it.
P.S. I also have a 2001 Monte Carlo SS with the 3800 motor. I have no problems writing to the pcm in it.
