  • DHP Tuner - Vehicle Specific?

I was told DHP is vehicle specific. If you buy it for a l67 grand prix it wont work on a 3.1 grand prix. I thought the tuner was the same and it could do a variety of motors??

It used to be vehicle specific, but the latest versions of the software now allow you to change anything DHP covers from, I think, 99 - 04. It's been this way for a couple years now.

I thought it worked for some 97 motors... like the l67... I know it will work with 96 GP 3100's and 96 berettas, and 97 venture van ecms..

Oh it should cover a 97 GP as well. I thought he was asking if the software is vehicle specific like HPT.

YES you can! All Powrtuner boxes are the same (aside from small hardware differences, but they all still work on the same cars).

If your new to tuning though, I wouldn't go for a DHP. There is no more support and not much activity on the members forum, equals little help from anyone. I'd suggest an HPTuner, unless your getting the DHP for cheap, then you could probably learn enough from the existing information on the forums to make it worth it.

you guys are right the hardware is able to work on each vehical but you still are limited to the specific engines you bought support for when you got the tuner originally.

when i bought my tuner i got the lq1 and the l67. after the newest release of the software they now let you access any year for that engine. but still you are limited to just those engines you originally requested. they did this cause it wouldnt be fair to the people who purchased the shop verisons of the tuner.

the software for hte tuner will allow you to modify any bin that DHP supports. but again you wont be able to download or upload to a vehical you dont have support for.

i can not upload 3800 NA's or the new L32 even tried an old rivera with a l67 but being a 96 DHP didnt have support for that PCM and my tuner wouldnt access the file check sum. and would now alow an upload or down load.

if you want you can buy any Powertuner and im sure if you mail it back or send a trouble ticket you can get support.

Nope, I can do any car I want with different engines (as long at PT supports them). Works fine.
