I don't follow? He swapped a 94 corsica computer into a 94 camaro. They're the same PCM part number. Still OBD1.5
Okay now, that's enough of that.

BUT wouldn't that make a hybrid swap a little easier? The iron head ECM advances the crap out of timing.

Same PCM (flash based) but different code yes. The corsica would have 3100 code on it, so it would be good for gen3 swap, but you still can't tune and the tune would get still be far off if you were not running a small port 3100... It will run better than the camaro pcm for 3x00 swaps though.

And fastchip can't really tune the ECM anyways.

Also keep in mind you might get some surging idle issues when slowing down or at a light if you are running it on a manual car since the code is for an auto..

I was looking into getting a 3.4 f body 5-speed computer for my 5-speed swap. That would correct and idle issues and a possible ses light. I totally forgot about timing differences between the alum v.s. the iron heads.

              Damn.

has anyone removed the prom from a 1.5 system and gotten into the code yet?

I wonder if the 1.5 computer would run on obd1 code...

It doesn't have a removable PROM. It's Flash like the OBD2.

I think is what he means is can you flash the OBD1 code on the PCM and have it run.

I know part of the code has been hacked, you can your ECM out to a couple of places and change the shift points and one other value, but not fuel or spark.

Yeah the hacked parts are done with a hex editor... LOL No one has the info from GM to map out the code. There are tools to flash it like tunercat can flash the 94-95 LT1 based ECMs, but no one has cracked the code.

Is gm holding the info that we need and not releasing it? Or has no-one gone through the process of talking with them and trying to get somewhere(slim chance)?

Its so hard to get people to care about our old cars...

They would probably prefer that we spent the money to buy a new car, that's faster stock than our old cars, instead of dropping all the money we do into our old cars, which means they make $0.00 off us, while aftermarket companies are doing quite well .
