I tried to start it today, but the battery was way to weak, and with the prices of gas, I decided to give up for the night. When I go back on monday, I will put a battery charger on it.

      well, it runs. Kinda.

I started it today. It ran rough for about 15 seconds, and then when I plugged the TPS back in, it smoothed right out. I let it idle for about a minute, then shut it off. I don't have any coolant in it, so I didn't want to mess it up.

So far, I have found 1 potentially MASSIVE problem. I tried to put it in gear, and the transmission didn't engauge. I know it is hooked up right, but I have not had a chance to troubleshoot it.

Shift linkage not messed up? Wires all hooked up right? What ECM/trans are you running again?

shift linkage is fine, wires are hooked up right, it is a 1996 3100 SFI with the matching transmission, and matching PCM. I pulled it all out of the pink car.

I think I know the problem, but I can't check it yet. I think that I pulled out the fuses in the underhood relay center, and forgot to put the TCC fuse back in.

I was talking to Larry last night, and he reminded me that low tranny fluid can cause it to not go into gear. I THOUGHT I had checked it, but I just realized that I had checked it BEFORE I started the car and not after. I picked up a couple of bottles of tranny fluid today, and I will see if that helps out some.

Once it moves under it's own power (tranny engauges), then I will start trying to wrap up all the minor issues. The whole "moving under it's own power" part is the most important one, after all.

Sorry Tat this forum is pretty dead lately, I think with the price of gas no one really is interested in cars that much?

I care also, because I have a 1990 Pontiac Grand Prix Race Car (Circle Track) which I'd like to upgrade the ECU on so we can bump up the performance.

Thanks guys. I got kinda down there with the transmission issues, but enough moping around.

First of all, I am going to call this swap a SUCCESS!!!!!

The car runs. It starts up, and sets down into a nice lopey idle, and the only code I am getting is for the missing rear O2 sensor.

With that said, this car does what I wanted it too. It runs on OBD2. I oficially own a 1988 Cutlass Supreme that runs on OBD2. I don't think any other GEN 1 w-body that did not already come with a twin cam, or 3100 has been done yet.

Now onto the bad. The transmission is no good. I had a friend that works at a tranny shop come and check it to be sure as well, and he says that something is definantly busted in there. When you put it in gear, the RPM does not change, but when you put it back in park, it makes grinding noises like when you miss a shift in a manual tranny car.

So I have to do something about the transmission, but seeing that the car does start and idle, then I am going to call it a success. Now, I need to get a job, get some money, and get a new tranny for it.

Sometimes I don't want anything helpful said. I just want to know people are watching it. Just people responding things like, "keep it up" gives me the boost I need and lets me know that I am not just doing this for myself. Well, I AM doing this for myself, but I always want to be useful.
