  • Can someone confirm something?

I want to experiment a bit and see what happens with my setup. With my current issues with the MSII I have nothing to lose. I want to attempt to use a 730 and see if the engine will at least run. It doesn't have to run well (especially considering I'll be using a stock MEMCAL), but as long as it runs, I'll be happy.

I need a BCC confirmed... I have an ARPL in my lap at current and I need to know what it comes from. On another site, it lists this BCC as being from an F-body 3.1 with the 5-speed.

Only problem with that is that I've only ever had ONE 730 from an F-body and that contained an AUJW MEMCAL (both of which I still have). I've also had an ATSN, AUXW (which I am pretty sure was my 93 GP 3.1), and a couple of others, but this ARPL is the one that I can't recall what it came out of. The only other 730 I've ever had was from a Corsica or something. I'm looking for a FWD spark timing table due to the DIS timing offset on my hybrid...

If you want to send me the memcal i can burn BFUZ to it, just pay shipping.

Does this offer still stand? The more work I put into the MS2 the less I seem to be getting out of it. The guy I PAID to help me out has been no help at all (in fact, his tune runs WORSE than mine does and that's with MS2Extra). The more I look at my single remaining 730 the more I'm licking my chops.

Only thing is I'm looking for something a little closer to either a BPCL or BJYK MEMCAL (94-5 3100 with the 16196387 PCM), but I don't think those 1FA bins will work in the 730... Would need code 32 disabled, VATS disabled, and something else that is escaping me at the moment (possibly VSS setup change). Even without the 1FA bins.

Yes, $1FA won't run in a '7730, it's a MAF based bin/ECM that's got some other differences as well. I have that bin, what are you looking for out of it?

Sure, I'll burn it. Just send it over with what VSS settings you need and whatever else you want changed. PM me for my address.

you can use the MEMCAL itself just fine(for knock filtering and POSSIBLY limp-home stuff), just don't try and run the calibration it contains.

Well, whichever bin is used I need the following:

Code 32 disabled (no working EGR).
VATS disabled (don't think that the 93-96 Camaro PASSKey system works with the 730 and mine is currently experiencing bypass issues).
ECM must accept a VSS input from my external buffer (I'd have to look up the setting change for that) to avoid my having to replace a perfectly good pre-730 VSS. I'm thinking that the VSS buffer puts out the proper signal but the 730 needs to look for the buffer as an input rather than the VSS itself. I had issues with direct plug-and-play in the past with my 730 harness and the speedometer not working even without a code.
I'd like to run a 3100 spark table...
Flag for manual transmission set as opposed to more common automatic.

Optical buffer like in the 3rd gen Fbodies? That'll be a problem with $A1, Never got that to work on mine. The older Jbody code will do it though but you lose some other improvements.

3x00 spark table is no problem, what injectors and FPR are you using?

I just filled the tank of the Trooper, and I've gotten about as good of gas mileage as I've ever expected out of this truck - even when it had the 2.8L TBI. Which is not great, but it's a low-geared...

doesn't look like Mars ever got back on the topic?

Is your test bench still working? I gutted mine, working on a standalone datalogger for my SBC.. lol

If that'll work with $A1 then it could be a good thing for future swappers.

No, not the optical VSS. The VSS as is installed in 87+ Firebirds with the full electronic gauge cluster and 90-92 TBI cars. Yellow VSS buffer box that would mount to the ECM bracket if I was still running my factory ECM and dash.

22# Vette injectors using adjustable FPR set to 43 PSI without vacuum as per factory.

(still) needs rebuilt, but still mostly functional.

Aah, ok.. We'll just have to figure out the PPM it puts out. Looks like it's the same as my old 700R4 at 2000 PPM, you can run the VSS signal directly to the ECM. If you need it divided for something like the cluster or cruse control, the ECM can handle that too so you wouldn't need a buffer anymore.

Yes for a 7730 delete the buffer box and run the two VSS wires to the ECM, then run the 4k ppm speedo output from the ECM to the green wire that goes to the buffer box

That's funny. When I was running the full 730 system in my unmodified 87, the speedo DID NOT work without having the buffer box installed. I had to run the buffer box, splice 2 wires into the 730 harness for the VSS, and connect the yellow VSS wire to the purple one and vice versa for the 730 so I wouldn't have to fight with a VSS DTC. I don't want to do that now, and I don't want to replace a perfectly good VSS. I know there is a way to connect the buffer to the ECM and modify the MEMCAL to accept the signal, but I don't know the ins and outs of it nor do I have the equipment to burn the chips. I can send 4000 PPM to the 730 by switching a wire in the buffer connectors from one position to another.

Yes, I have the older VSS, but according to my wiring diagrams (FSM), both are 4000 PPM. Not sure if the 90+ VSS is wired backwards or what...

                              I have an 89 and I'm running a 9396 (7730ish) ECM with a deleted buffer box.
