if you hear knock, that is REALLY bad.... the sensor should be reacting long before you can hear it.

get to a cruising point, then just add in 5* to that cell(and probably the surrounding ones), should have a noticable change almost instantly and the KR should become active. assuming you're already close to optimal advance at that location in the map, 5 should push it over into detonation territory, especially with lower grade fuel.

I tried to test for real knock today. I added 5* of spark at 2200 rpm and 40-60 map where I was cruising. Nothing happened so I upped it until i was adding 10 degrees and still nothing. I went to 12* extra before I got scared went back to original SA. I never heard any knock or felt any difference as I was cruising. I am also running premium fuel at the moment with a bit of octane booster as well. At one point KR became active for a very brief moment but stopped. Also, this was all off a stock timing table that I have not touched, so it is likely not optimized.

Should I try again and add a couple more degrees?

Knock sensor is still working, I got about 15 knock counts when the engine turned off.

what was your peak advance at cruise? you may already be at the max timing advance if one exists, so adding that much to the table didn't increase it any.

It is set at 50 degrees, I think it hit 42 before I pulled it back down to stock.

Put some regular in it and tested again. This time I got some KR and a couple knocks. Looks like all is well.

how far did you have to advance it to run into it?

i can't believe you managed to run 12* extra and didn't run into knock on premium.... that's a lot of extra advance.

I didn't have to advance it. After I put in regular, I was going to mess with highway fuel because I was going for a long drive. While it was leaned out to 16 or so and under a bit of load it started to see kr and a knock. I figured this was proof enough knock sensor was working. I also tried this with the premium in from earlier and no knocks or kr.
