  • Pcm/ECM problem I think?

I am a HD mechanic, class eight engines mainly, my problem is I have a 4.3 in a 1992 Jimmy. After running it will just shut down, I did a tune up and changed the coil.
We took it for a drive and it shut down again put it in the shop and it gets no fuel, and has no ignition. Leave it cool for an hour and it will start, the run times are getting shorter all the time. I read the wiring diagrams and the only thing that controls both is the PCM. The local auto wrecker had a PCM. The original is a 16144288, the new one is a 16156647, to me it is quite a lot different, Do not want to install it and damage other stuff. The truck is a winter driver for a friend who runs the snow plow.

The ECM/PCM would not talk to me, so I got a used one, same number as old one, I road tested it and put it together, and it died, and it came up with a 22 and 42 code, I replaced the ignition module and put on the scanner the TPS is in range .28 but must go lower some times and brings up the 22 code. I took it for a road test up the mountain, and all was well. I cleared the codes and it still brings up the 22, but that can wait.
