  • Last resort tuning/connecting help?????

I've been trying to get connected to my ecm with no luck, using Tuner Pro and extreme aldl OBD1(7727). At one time I was connected and learning to datalog(version 4), then I tried to install version 5 and went in and deleted some bins, ads, etc to clean things up because I get confused on that stuff.
Well now I can' even get a connection to my ecm or burn a chip without getting a "must be divisible by 64 error".
Robert and Forced have been trying to help me out, but I have been unsuccessful thus far, They have been great to work with, but I don't know what else to do????? Any suggestions before I have to pull the engine and put in something else?

Have you tried V4 again? I am not familiar with that error.

it had to do with the filesize of the BIN not being right... IIRC, it was like 13 or so bytes larger than it should have been...
1995 Monte Carlo LS 3100, 4T60E...for now, future plans include driving it until the wheels fall off!

If that is the case, there should be a program available online that can readjust a checksum amount.

I haven't a clue what the situation is but if Robert said the files is too small/large, try looking up software to reapply that amount.

It has been many years since I messed w/ that stuff but I know it's out there.

Yes, I gave up on version 5, I'm just trying to get hooked back up on version4.

I can re-send you the file, but I am not sure what the issue is. That is the standard .bin I have been using on all the OBD1 swaps (it's my stock iron head 3.4 tune).

I wouldn't be thinking about pulling the motor etc, specially since you already had it the setup working and only had a problem when going to v5.

Give me a minute and I will upload the .bin here as well.

                  filesize of 32,783 bytes...

i'll see if paring it down will at least get it useable...

strangely enough, at the end of the file, i'm seeing " 27256(12qck)*"

deleted that and the filesize is backwhere it should be.

but almost the entire algorithm area of the BIN is WAY different than from any of my other A1 BINs...

at least see if this one will try and run the car, it should be burnable now.

That did allow me to load file and burn the chip, but I still can't connect, and my electric fan comes on with key on.

well, we at least determined filesize was the non-burning issue...

and it looks like notepad saved all of the 00 locations as 20, so i'll need to find another means of removing those last few bytes from the BIN...

Alright, that one allowed me to connect, now maybe we can work on some tuning. No idle and generally rough throughout throttle range. Thank you! Would you like me to bring it up to operating temps and then maybe datalog?

whew... that was my last resort(excuse the pun) as far as getting it to work... but yes, bring the engine up to temp(and a idle learn would probably be advisable as well, should smooth out quite a bit from that alone).
