    depends on the vehicle

anything related to the higher end cars usually is more foolproof... but when you get to cheaper stuff, it's like they purposelly messed things up...

half-assed effort on cheaper vehicles and more foolproof work on expensive ones....

but at least they made it fairly easy for us to fix their mistakes.

EDIT: WTF? i posteed, it didn't show up, post something different, they BOTH show up...

for future reference, how do we delete our own posts?

        • before i do something detrimental to my tune by "unchecking" the idle fuel flag for the IAC. can you just verify that this is the correct box?

I'm almost certain thats it, i just want to double check.

btw, some of the idle vs. main VE table values are waay different. (idle is more rich) why would GM make it that much richer at idle???

          • right flag. why would they do it? you can have a decent idle running richer than stoich, but once you start going above that, misfires and stalling can happen...

            • thanks for verifying. Can you tell me again why its a good thing that we are taking the IAC out of the idle equation?

btw, finishing my VE tables as we speak.

              • taking the IAC out now removes having to determine wether the ECU was determining fuel through the IAC tables of the VE tables while at idle...

                • Does $DF lack that flag? I did a quick look and didn't see it.

                  • Sil wrote the really expansive DF XDF, it's in there, just with a different name...

1 = CALCULATE 'BPW AT IDLE' AS FUNCTION OF AIRFLO

is what it gets referred to there, but rename it if you feel necessary

ok cool. Will i ever want to reinable that flag again or can i just leave it unchecked from here on out and just run my idle off of my VE idle?

I'm done with my VE tables for the first time!! many more to come i'm sure...

                      woot.

I'll save the .bin, burn my chip, then be datalogging again hopefully later on in the week.

As far as ya'lls experience is concerened, is there ususally a marked difference (hopefully for the better) after the first VE tune is completed?

                      • difference: depends on how far off the VE tables were to begin with... that and since it's not on the road yet, you really won't know.

you could re-enable it eventually if you wanted to, but mine like it running off of the VE tables, and i also like not having to tune IAC tables... great if you have an emulator, but with EEPROMs, it's a bit of a pain.

thats true... I haven't even taken it out of the driveway yet...

I'm with you on the "not having to tune IAC tables", less tuning is OK in my books.

If it doesn't run so rich at idle this time around, i will be very pleased.

                          • So with the IAC tables enabled the PCM bypasses the IDLE VE table totally? Wonder why they even bothered putting in data then to the table stock... lol Guess they weren't totally lazy...
