this should help. since you don't have EGR going, the only cell you need to worry about is cell 0.

EDIT: why APYP? is it because that's what came with TP? because that's intended for an 89 corvette...

check the link i posted before for my BIN database as well.

I thought i had to "disable" EGR first? Have i done that yet? edit: is it the "rpm below which EGR is 0%" cell that i need to make an impossible number to keep EGR in "0%" mode?

btw, i'm learning a lot right now.

How do I take a "screen shot" of my desktop so i can show you what i've done in tuner pro?

disabled EGR by setting it's coolant enable temp to as high as possible, should be like 151*C.

        we all start somewhere...

and taking a screenshot: press the print screen button on your keyboard, paste it into mspaint, crop and upload.

        did you read the EDIT?

          sorry

yes, there were only 3 different .bin's to choose from on tuner pro's website and i thought it would be good to at least find one and see what it looked like (i didn't know it was a corvette .bin ......)

my bad, i had no other ones to choose from

sorry.. .it's a bit hard to see the #'s, but let me know if i'm doing this right.

I've got from left to right the BASE VE changed with the 10% difference, the BPC set at 210 @ 0%, and the EGR coolant turn on temp at 151* Celcius.

other than the BIN being wrong for the XDF, you have the right idea as to what to do. thumbs up for that.

                lol thanks.

Guess i should just wait for John's .bin to arrive before i start messing with it.

good idea... or load any A1 BIN and play around with it.

Max, been overloaded when I have a chance to sit in front of a PC, trying to keep up with everything and working long hours at the shop. Once I get a connection there, life will be a little easier. Since it's a commercial building, they want a 3yr contract for DSL and double what I pay at home, no cable available Thinking about getting cellular connect, but then I am limited to 5gb a month without more fees.

Anywho, my .bin is nothing more than a mix-match of the iron head f-body (3rd gen) .bin ($88 ) values mixed into the $a1 mask so the car would run decent on $a1 without a busload of work to do. I did this because I knew a lot of $88 cars had swapped in a 3.4 and they run good with very little tweaking (your engine is modified enough where you might still have problems though). Shoot me a PM with your email addy and I'll send over the .bin I created for Paul's car, and even make sure I include the proper .xdf.

your .bin might be rudimentary, but it's the best starting point i have for getting my motor running. I'm seriously considering modifying the .bin before i even put it in the new computer ( what we've been working on so far such as the BPC, EGR disable, and VE Base etc.)

so the sooner i get it the more work i can do with it.

I am sending you my email address...

Does this mean i should disregard robert's $a1 .xdf and use yours? or will it be ok to still use his $a1 and your .bin in conjunction?

                      thanks

                      • ok, I was able to duplicate the BPC and EGR minimum turn on temp cells that we did in the other .bin above ^^ but john's .bin does not seem to have the "BASE VE" that i am supposed to "up 10% in the 3600 + rpms". Maybe it's called something different?

                        also, i have a 180* thermostat.

I set the fan "on" temp to 194*F and the fan "off" temp to 182* F is this a reasonable setting?

                        • Roberts $a1 .xdf with John's .bin:

Thats how i've decided to go about working on this tune.

can you guys check my latest screen shot and let me know if everything looks ok??

from left to right: BASE VE raised 10% from 3600 rpm and up, Minimum coolant temp for EGR set at 151* C so it always stays in 0% mode, Base Pulse Constant set to 210 (for my 19 lb injectors) in the 0% cell for previously stated reason, Fan turn on/ turn off temps 193* ON/ 181* OFF (set for a 180* thermostat)

sorry for all the questions, but if this looks ok to you guys then i'll save that .bin and have my first modifications on my tune done!!

My AC has been deleted for a while and besides not having a BASE VE table in Johns .xdf he also had everything in Celcius lol

plus i figure if i run with your .xdf Robert, you'll be able to help me that much easier =p

                              • OK, so i want to keep a running list of things that i already have modified on the .bin that will help stabilize my car even before putting in the new PCM and data logging.

This list is also to remind myself (because i'm learning from scratch) why we are doing these changes.

                                1. Using Isaac's formula we determined that the BPC is 210 at 0% EGR with the new 19 lb. injectors and my 3.4 block so we changed the BPC to 210 @ the 0% cell. I'm assuming this will help right off the bat in regards to the uber rich AFR i'm getting right now. Now that my PCM knows how big the injectors are, it can only help right?

                                2. To keep the BPC consistent we essentially disabled the EGR by turning it's "turn on temp" to 151* celcius (303* F) so it will always run in the 0% cell.

                                3. Based on my camshaft we decided to up the fuel 10% or so in the upper rpms as to not go lean. This was done by changing the Base VE tables and adding 10% to the 3600 and up rpms cells.

                                4. Because my hypertech thermostat is 180* instead of the stock 195, I changed the rad. fan turn on temp to 193 * and changed the fan turn off temp to 181* which should help keep it running nice and cool.

So now, what else can be done to the .bin prior to running it in the car and modifying?

Robert, you said something about taking an "educated guess" at the VE. Is this something we want to touch now, or wait until data logging? Any thing at all I can work on BEFORE the first datalog? And also, what are the first things we want to tackle AFTER the first datalog?

                                thanks
