  • Converting a 24x signal to a 3x???

I know it's been discussed before, but has anyone hacked up the reluctor(?) on the back of a rwd 3.4 balancer to turn it into a 3x signal? How would I have to cut this thing up to get dis running on my 2.8 'maro? I'm not sure how to do this to get it resembling the 3x crank signal. Would make converting to 3x00 heads way easier for rwd guys.
Increasingly I find the difference between a "fact" and an opinion is the number of people who believe it.

3.4 block converted to roller valvetrain with 220/225 cam on 115 lsa, '769' heads with 3500 valves, LS6 springs & porting, twin T04E turbos, 3500 plenum with ported 3400 lower & 'short star' 65mm throttle.

Problem is the 3x reluctor actually has the teeth missing when the signal is needed to fire. You would have to "fill" all the spaces in the 24x.

If I ever get off my lazy butt, I will convert this TCE external trigger to be used with RWD Than we will have them readily available. I think GrimmCS is using a TCE unit on his, and has figured out a way to make it work.

I have a welder and patience, lol.

But seriously, it would be easy to cut a pattern out and just tack it inplace of the original. Now wether or not this sensor operates the same way as the 3x signal I don't know. The 3x is a 2 wire sensor and the 24x is 3. Wiring?

If you have access to an o-scope you could test the signals, I'm not sure how they relate to each other. I have seen around here a while back that someone had put notches in the harmonic damper and made a bracket to hold the sensor, but I'm not sure I ever did see if it worked or not.

use the TCE trigger. Timing is not something you want to take a chance with.

BTW, it's 7x (6 + ref).. not 3. You could run it on 4 (3+ the ref) but not on 3 alone with the waste spark DIS system.
