if i get a prom programmer-how hard is it to learn

im strongly considering getting a PROM programmer so i can start learning how to adjust values to accommodate for boost, headers, etc... if i get this one:

ill be spending nearly $300 but the compatibility looks very nice, how hard is it to learn to modify the code for boost-aftermarket parts-or for better mpg, is it just a matter a tinkering around with the pulse width & spark advance until you feel comfortable with it or?

id just hate to drop $300 and have this thing sit around unused because i didnt make an informed decision as to whether or not i could learn to tune it in a decent time frame.

no i really have no idea what would be my best option as far as one of these goes considering im looking to use the tgp code & work with 90-93 (or 91-93) luminas/berettas/corsicas/cav's with 3.1

Super Dave, Rodney and Chris Wilson are three guys I know using it.

i pulled up all of their products at once & i was just seeing tons of "honda, acura, ford, nissan, etc..." but looking further into it i found the GM listings.

when i first went there i thought shop by vehicle was just a heading & there was nothing under it like with list all products, so i had no idea.

i've got like a 12" and 6" somewhere... and a pen, and a post-it note thing too... i'm a free stuff whore, i know.

moates IS king shit when it comes to DIY tuning, its tough to beat their prices/service.

and using the burn2 makes it stupid-simple to burn a chip, the software for it(and the integrated screen in TP) calculates all of the offsets and shit for you. basically, choose which chip you're running; hit load file to buffer; program chip; done, unless you verify after every burn(which i do)...

and it looks like brad added in my opinions of tuning into the doc. thats just the very basics still, but you catch on quickly after that. although i'm sure i'll see another no_doz post related to "WTF is this shit: continuum transfunctioner voltage VS flux capacitor duty cycle VS MAP"...

most definitely-and that reminds me! on operation repo there was this like 23 or 24 year old kid who was having his -DELOREAN- repo'd! first off ive probably only seen 1 in my entire life, -maybe- 2, & this kid flips out & goes michael jackson like a MOFO.

if you're looking for entertainment i definitely recommend going to hulu & looking up operation repo, and watch "just beat it", i almost cried laughing

lol that makes me feel a LOT better-im going to get the burn2 & the $10 attachment so i can read memcals without tearing them apart-idk if that means i can burn them without tearing them apart-it would certainly be nice!!

i really appreciate all of your guys help, asylum you alone have saved me $200 and a lot of time saving up the $300 & explaining to my gf why im dumping more money into a vehicle lol
