i'm guessing the slow response is due to it being room temp? other than that, its cool, but other than RPM/A-F ratio and Lambda, i don't know what that other stuff meant...

It's a wideband controller, much like PLX or LC-1 etc. It takes a wideband o2 sensor and uses the signal to display information.

It has 2 programmable outputs, so you could use one for the ECM in narrow band simulation, or a guage or both etc. It free air calibrates and will even datalog RPM vs. AFR etc.

I haven't built the display yet, but it does use a 7 segment digital readout of AFR.

It's a JAW kit (just another wideband).

Cool! Which model did you get? I've been seriously looking at their NAW_OEM...it's only $55 shipped too.

Ok, that answers my question... I was going to ask whats the advantage over say a PLX or LC1, but aparently its the price.

I'm impressed it reads 34:1 a/f... thats way lean... My PLX goes from 20 to 10 for a scale... obviously thats plenty for what I need it for.

I've had great success with my JAW. Been using it over a year now. My biggest beef was fabbing up a waterproof box to mount it under the hood and still keep the serial connection. Also have to make sure to keep the LM317 and LM7805 cool, but isolated from each other.

Tip: Never update firmware anywhere you don't want to stay. It seems like a lot of the newer stuff is buggy, especially when released.

Got around to assembling the display. Still has 2 programmable outputs, undecided on how it will be configured. I bought 2 kits, one for the BMW, the other for tuning so it will get mounted in some kind of box. The BMW is an '86 and has a segmented display in the dash that is very similar in color, just need to put some smoked glass in front of it to hide the unlit segments...

Still using a lighter to evacuate the oxygen around the sensor, and the heat is all over the place because it's in open air, I'm sure it will have faster response and be more stable when engulfed in the exhaust stream.

I'm going to mount it permanently in the dash somewhere hidden, yet accessible (like an ECM behind the glove-box) and use an OEM connector. When I had the LC-1 in the Firebird, I drilled a hole big enough for the sensor to fit through and used a split grommet so the controller was inside the cabin, but this time want to have just the harness/connector outside the car. Then use a db9 extension to hook to the laptop, and I've read there's a way to log WB with the OBD1, so I want to try it.

No new news on these. I have a couple now, and need to assemble the last one. The first is going in a customer's car, the second one is going in the my Bimmer. Just picked up some more WB sensors to fill all these spots though haha.

Hmm. What have I been up to? Designing cams, starting to work on some 3800's (no L67!!!) and such. Got the l-body headers here that I need to get a jig built for, making a harness for fleenor's buggy, OBD1swap kits are in development, just made a batch of Fiero brake adapters, about to start another batch of the 65mm TB adapters, and of course, still pluggin away at Paul's car...

Oh yeah, still also have a full time construction job, and part time doing the production machining for the shop lol...

L body headers, are t hose just the turbo manifold style or are those full like SS headers? You have some made that fit and clear everything?

Guess you'll have to wait for pics, now, won't you?

N/A headers, I'm using some modified S&S headers to see clearances, since no-one wanted to let me use their car for mock up...

So you don't have a car to mock up on? Clearances are VERY tight... Or do you have a set that was already modified to clear?
