Yeah I know, but with my cam and the current procedure to tune VE on OBDII I could kill myself. I need to drive around and get the trims settled and then use a table modifier... unfortunately to do that I need to disconnect my maf sensor... have you ever driven a OBDII vehicle with a fat cam and no maf sensor plugged in... man talk about stumble and stall central.

Also remember with me being MAF controlled, I can get my car to run very close to decent by doing a MAF only tune. I have 0 to .78% trims almost all throughout driving, and I always lock at zero at WOT and I'm running about 12:1 a/f, which yes could be leaned out some.

And they say OBDII is easy to tune! LOL

Is the VE tune on OBDII just a fail safe when it falls back to SD if the MAF breaks?

never driven anything with a MAF other than when my mom had her 2000GPSE. nothing special. and i'm going to see how far i can run the advance with a really rich WOT (like 11:1) and see where i can pick up some power, then back off the fuel.

You OBDI guys will never learn... Ease of tuning is not determined by the fact that my car loves to stall when I unplug the maf...

I will probably have Geoff's Z26 tuned in one day before bfest and we'll then see what he puts down with power, before and after the tune... I'll save both bin files seperate.

i'm not implying that MAF has anything to do with it. hell there were plenty of obd1 maf cars, but i like both speed-density and obd1...

both much simpler and entirely adequate for anything i need to do.

the only advantage i can think of that obd2 has is more support for boost...

                Just busting your stones.

Awesome, I've always wondered what a 3400 swap in a 3100 car runs un-tuned vs tuned. I wonder just how far off it will be. Can't wait for all the dyno #s from everyone.

Tuning OBDI sucks!! It takes a very long time, and it's easy to go a little too far by being anal about that 128/128 reading. If OBDII VE tables are within 2% on the rich side, then you can leave it. OBDI won't tell you about percentage. I'm faster and better about tuning than I was, but it will still take a while. I feel if you know how to tune, and with the right equipment, OBDII is easier and quicker.

Probably true, but I am really good with OBD1 and MAP so I have no issues with it what so ever.

I can tune OBD1 in my sleep.. It's just the stupid problems that come with modded 60v6's that take a while to work out.

It takes a while to get over the 128/128 thing, No tune is ever perfect.. all we can do is get it close, fix the annoyances and move on.

dave and ben: count me in too for the knowing what to do. i'm still fairly new to the whole idea of tuning, but nothing is confusing me, and everything i do seems to be working for the better

torq455: take whatever blm reading you are at, and assuming the int is at/close to 128 divide the blm by 128 and then you have your number as to how many percent your fuel is off.

ex blm: 140 is 9.375% lean...
