  • OBD 2 Swap

Hi i am thinking about doing a obd 2 swap in my 94 Buick Century so i can start doing some upgrades to my 3100. Will i be able to repin my stock harness and if so what would be the best ecu for me to run and are there any guides that document the pin swap . Thank You Chris.m

well if you really want to go that route, it has been done before and theres documentation somewhere.
the century is an a-body, didn't those have a 3100 with a MAF and removeable PROM and use 1A code?

me and brad (bszopi) are working on getting the obd1 swap working, so that may be an option as well.

IMO your best bet would be to keep it OBD1, switch to $A1 code and pick up a Ostrich emulator, then download Tunerpro RT.

I have the $1F code that's more than likely in your car right now, i have yet to map it out though.

1F, duh... cant figure out why i was thinking 1A. yes 3100s with MAF from 94-95 definitely 1F.

good luck figuring mapping that shit out Superdave. i took a look at it and i still can't figure it out.

2E is a bitch as well.

Rarestace: A1 is definitely a good idea, very well supported and used by a lot of people. is your MAF integrated with your throttle body?

you might have to switch a few pins around on your PCM connector, and then obviously, get a chip programmed for A1... i think thats it..

Here are the pinout diagrams for a 94 Cavalier: http://www.v6z24.com/jbodyforum/ecm-...9884d70fc.html

I'd see if you can find the diagram for your car and then just compare them, make note of any differences. It's pretty easy to move pins around in the ECM connectors. There will be some that won't be used anymore and you'll be able to ditch the MAF sensor.

The only thing i'm unsure about is which tranny you have, $A1 won't be able to control an electronic transmission. You have 2 ECM boxes (or atleast the 94 olds i was in had 2).. The other one might be for the tranny.

I'll dissassemble $1F today and start mapping it. Rainy days are pretty slow at work.. lol

I've got the code disassembled, but of course Tunercat has a def. Not sure if it's worth $20 for me to buy though.. but we'll see.

here is the parimeters they have: http://www.tunercat.com/pdfs/ecm_$1fa.pdf

*edit Tunerpro has a datalogging def for $1FA http://www.tunerpro.net/downloadBinDefs.htm

                      no bin def though...

you can convert the TC file to work in Tunerpro but the last one i bought from them was junk.

i know, i was talking to mark mansur(?) about it, since i have a PDF of a hac for 2E but it isn't really detailed where it should be, he mentioned coughing up 20 for the TC version, e-mailing it to him to convert it, and then i would have the option of distributing it to the rest of the community or keeping it for myself...
