  • I know this is out there.

I know there is at least 10 threads on this but i cant seem to find anything I'm looking for.

I want to datalog my car and I'm looking to build one of these like seen in another thread in this forum but i didnt want to highjack.

Can anyone educate me on this? Were do i get the parts? how do i hook it up? whats all involved in this. Also I dont fully understand this diagram.

I'm not looking to tune it or anything I just want to be able to datalog and see whats going on with the car.
    thanks

well, you need to find a spot to mount the computer, i'd suggest on the backside of the tank.. then wire in a knock sensor, OPSU, TPS and a few other things to the engine. You can run the ALDL wires up to the handle bars for an easy connection to your laptop..

oh yah, and the pink seat's gotta go.. black is much more stylish.

Ah damn.. LOL that was worth a good laugh though. I couldn't resist. Your text was perfect for it. hahahaha I didn't care I just thought "Hey that's my pic, I wonder if it's a direct link... Hmm lets have some fun!! " heheheh

Here is the pic back. Mine only differs in that I added a few things to help you understand and it has an activity LED. BTW this works great.

If you don't have any electronic knowledge it may be worth just buying one somewhere. It will take you some time to make this. Longest part of the time for me was cutting the holes for the LEDs/wires/switches in the project box I put it in. But searching around and you'll find some electronic basic guides that should help.

I got everything but the box and board from jameco.com. Good shipping prices and huge cheap selection. The box and board I got from radiosnatch. The chip was a TI version of the MAX232 and was 50 cents! cheaper than others that were $3 and it works great and good features.

.. Oh and if anyone was wondering what picture I changed it to on him: hehe

haha yeah i knew you did it on purpose cause it changed not even 20 minutes after i posted, lol have to remember that one next time i see someone steal a pic, lol

anyways, I'm good with wiring but not so much with all thsi resistor stuff and such I'd feel better off just buying a cable... anyone make them and sell them for a decent price? also once I have this cable what all do i need just a laptop and tunerpro or freescan?
            thanks

I'll second that. I could do it, but I lack the ambition.
