  • Tuning Chip?

Hey guys i'm new here and i was just wondering what kind of performance tuner/programmer i could use to tune my car. It's an 88 Pontiac 6000se which has a 3100 bottom end with a 3400 to end but it's all running on a 2.8 computer whichwas the original engine that it came with. It's a bit of a frankenstein mobile but i bought it off my friend at work.

IMO the best way it to go to www.moates.net and pick up an Ostrich 2.0.. then download Tunerpro RT and a virgin copy of the $A1 binary file.

What's the service number on your computer? 1227730? If so then there are allready chips out there that will run that engine just fine. Although you'd have to use the 3400 fuel injectors. The Jbody guys have been doing swaps like that for 5 or 6 years.

Where would the service number? because i haven't looked at it yet. It's a whole 3400 top end, ill be swapping the bottom end from the 3100 to the 3400 to have an actual 3400 bottom end and top end. The 3100 knocks real bad but i cant complain cuz it was free. But thanks for the info.

Move up to OBD 2 since it has tranny control too?

Yeah. You may be able to repin your ECM wires to a new plug and plug in a 96 or 97 ECM. Then get DHP/HPT to tune.
