  • tuning ?'s, lots of them

I've been reading posts and found lots of software to choose from, decided were to get my cables. i keep reading that most people arn't trying to tune 95 pcm's like the one in my beretta. but then i read where some are or some swap out for a 93? pcm or are trying to tune. but the one thing i don't know is even if i decide not to tune myself i still want to be able to data log so what ( definition) files do i need to be able to do this. i see where it may depend on the pcm# (or calibration # ) is it.
at one point it starts making sense then the next post i read i'm lost again.

THere is nothing for a 95 ECM so either use a 96 and rewire for the extra OBD2 sensors and wiring, a 93 W body 3.1 with a 4T60-E, a 91-93 3.4 DOHC computer, or a 94-95 DOHC computer and use the DOHC MAF sensor.

OBD2 or the 91-93 DOHC/93 3.1 4T60-E computer is your best bet. OBD2 would be a DHP setup, and the 91-93 DOHC uses DF definition file so plenty of support there as well.

Can't readily tune a 95 PCM. Gotta go to either an older PROM-style (pre-94) or to OBD-2 (96+).

so even though i'm not planning on tunning i still need a different pcm just to do datalogging?

i'm sure they will work but i will ask anyway. with the earlier 3.4dohc pcm run my 3400 setup with out pre programming? i am sure the 3.1 pcm will.
are the 93 pcm plugin's the same or will some wiring be needed.

i have never messed with these things before so i am learning as i go. just rather have all my ducks in a row kinda thing before i get to far into it.

i've been looking at the diagrams that are on the site here. and the 94 3100 diagrams are exatcly the same as a 95 beretta with one exception. since i don't see a 93 dohc diagram. what about th 95 dohc. looking at the 95 3100 and 95 dohc the circuit #'s are labeled the same but the pins look to be in a different order. this mean to use a 95dohc pcm i would need to repin the connectors?

The 95 DOHC computer uses 4 square connectors like the 91-93 computer and basically every other OBD1 memcal w body computer. You would have to match up the wiring. You can run the DOHC computer with the stock DOHC programming but thats 91-93 only. 95 is MAF so I don't know if that will work very well without tuning it to begin with.

ok well i have my pcm out right now. opened it up. now there are only 3 plugin's on this pcm on one side theres a single blue connector. on the other board there are two one is gray and one is black. the tag on the outside of the case has 2 different sets of #'s

              16208254 blxu
              *86blxuk242341215*

theres a removable panel on the front side of the pcm the side with the blue connector. inside theres a removable chip with 2 sets of #'s

              1064223

on that same side of the board there is a chip labeled flash #'s are from top to bottom

              U4200108

on the other side with the gray and black connectors theres a nother chip labeled flash all #'s are the same as the other except for the bottom row.

              u4200057.

i don't know if any of it helps but i will take some digital pics incase i need more info off of the boards.

OBD-1.5 FLASH ECM, no real tuning ability (ie, companies dealing with Flash programmers are all OBD2). The removable chip is the Knock Module.

He is mistaken. The only place I have ever seen that will even touch these PCMs (I have one as well) is FastChip out of Tulsa, OK (www.fastchip.com). After my regrind install, I had him reflash my PCM (I was in Tulsa at the time), but wasn't impressed with what was done for the $350 it cost me, ie except for somewhat fixing a rough idle (due to the regrind) I didn't notice any change. So I had him reflash it to stock and got my money back.
