ok, to start i am planning to install a cam similar in specs to the milzy stage 1, accompanied by ported heads and intakes. I am currently running a 75 shot of nitrous. After the cam will be headers.
SO, the question is, will my stock computer support this setup? (obd1.5)
i am aware that tuning will always be better, but im curious if this will be too much for the stock computer? Next, if i do need to tune, what do you recomend for my situation? I am interested in the piggy back systems, because i dont want to spend my whole bank account on a computer.
    Any input is appreciated, JMo

    BTW, its a 3100 in a 94 grand prix

My mechanic at pontiac says there is as much as a 20% tolerence in the obd 1.5 system, but he is not EXACTLY sure on this, only that on some things there is quite a bit of "room.". BUT, (and this is a big one here) GM holds all the keys to the gates that will allow a GM tech to use a Tech 2 scanner to change any VCL. If you know a good dearlship that treats you right, and you have one guy always doing the work on your car, you might be able to get them to finagel with GM on your behalf to fix idle "issues" egr "not working properly" (i.e., you removed it, but they don't tell GM, only they say they have went thru a bunch and it still won't work, so GM would download the code to shut the thing off, stuff like this) "poor performance" etc, etc. It is a game i think none of use in Obd 1.5 land are ever going to win, really. The best way is to convert to obd 2. ( mega mulla) or go to obd 1 from a 3.4 dohc culass with the 4t60e, but there are a few things that are differnt, like gaguge drives and some sensors, plus, i'm not sure if anybody has done that with all the bugs fixed.
Don\'t hate me because I\'m horny.

Its hard to say considering we dont even know how the stock coding looks. There is about 22% in the fueling before the computer is peaked, but you can be varied from that at any given load/rpm with even a stock motor. Its not so much a straight % as it is a difference with the curves for both fuel and spark. Spark you can get away with more so on the stock settings and not notice, but fueling is going to bite you in the ass. I havent played with a piggy back system but others have and can probably help you out with using one.

When I get dynomation going and setup as accurately as possible, I can tell you how the cam specs look. I would need to know a lot more on the porting though to be accurate, which is why I am setting myself up with this software that integrates with my flowbench. That is business though. Ill share stock setups and such with cam changes since it will benefit others and won't be much more difficult to setup since I will have to have a generic stock 60V6 motor for my own comparisons to the stuff I sell. The nice thing about the softare is how much it uses for its calculations. It even spits out VE results which you could possibly use to figure out what the computer is gonna do in comparison to stock.
