  • 3.4 dohc tunning question

    I have a 93 Lumina z34, LQ1
I read that GMPCM is the best software so I downloaded it. But I am having some real trouble with the cable thing. Where do i get the end that connects to the obdI the to the well I dont care the usb or the db9(serial). Another thing I guess to ask would be would that be all I would need. ?

    RE: 3.4 dohc tunning question

moates.net has the cable you need. Its 30 for the OBD1 end and 50 for the ALDL end. It uses USB and a driver so it is seen as a com port. You also need a programmer. The willem programmer on ebay for 50 bucks works great but is a serious pain in the ass to figure out. I have done it once though hopefully rob will make up a good walkthrough on it. No instructions = teh suck. Its complicated as it is! Laptop for the scanner would be good to have as well unless you have a super long cord and no traffic:P

Well I found the pcm file, but two things. One this burner, do u need it to make your chnages happen for good. And if so does thta mean while the laptop is in the port it controls the car it self. two would be, what bout this cable http://www.mastach.com/index.php?mod..._hardware&l=en it is only lke $44. which is alot better.

That adapter is pretty ghetto but I guess if you don't mind pushing pins into the ALDL every time, its good to go. The laptop doesn't control anything other than reset BLM and IAC with freescan. You need the burner to make the changes in the chip. You need GMPCM to edit the code itself, which you already have it sounds like.

well if you have to burn the info to see how it will work, how do u know it wont mess up your car really bad. And the burn from wat I saw was for the chip, like the ones you make in the store. I ordered one which I would imagine you allready know, but will I be able to edit that chip then?
