    well this post is a little early but i would really like to gain some tuning info on this setup, if anyone has any knowledge with tuning what so ever please post here your experiences, findings, anything that whent through your head while in the tuning proccess, outcome of changing certain peramerters, 2d 3d and anything you played with, or with my setup anything you would do

    ok with that said heres my setup

    1993 Grand Prix Le
    2.8 block, 3100 hybrid
    4t60-e, 3:73 fdr 2800 stall tc, maybe do the washer trick
    i think my egr will bolt up(digital)
    eventually running multec2 injectors and adj fpr
    stock manifolds
    may run ford tb 65mm
    stock heads for now 1.72
    16149396 ecu, have a chip im going to dump and burn to my new chip n then install
    tunercat software $df definition file
    other software suggested i will use as long as its free
    need to build a cable, need guides


    basic tables to be edited to get the thing to run without hickups for now
    table si may want to look at for performance
    deffinatly need to adjust trans shift points and firmness

    hmm well i hope you get the idea of what im looking for, and thanks everyone for your help you all have given me so far

    Throw away the tunercat, get GMPCM for DF code. Its not free but its worth having everything at your fingertips. That or you can use winbin or tunerpro with the df.ecu file that I don't share with anyone anymore (hehe). Start with the 3.4 DOHC chip code. What 3100 setup are you using, the small runners? Hell, chris has a chip that would just about work with what you have there, though he had a 62mm I think and ported heads. Not sure what injectors he was using though so that may not help.

    FIrst thing, get it to idle. Set the Injector constant vs EGR to get the fueling close. The math never works for me, so I stopped trying. However if you want to keep the EGR working, you have to do the math on it. Its easier to get it running right with the EGR off and then go back and deal with the fuel constant for EGR open %.

    2.8 block, is that 2.8 crank as well? Thats going to get things even more interesting, should change a few other areas of the computer code. Ill pretty much have to look these things up for you address wise and what its called in the code. Since it seems you aren't really at the tuning stage yet, ill have some time to get it looked up.

    Firmness is set physically, not in the code. I need to kidnap lorenzo...he is the tranny expert as far as I know. Adjustable vacuum modulator can be turned up to make it shift harder. Shift points are pretty easy to change. Performance, don't even bother with that till it idles (which is first), then cruise, then decel. Performance and gas milage are the 2 last things I go for.

    Never built a cable, chris has but they didnt like to work for me. I use the moates.net cable (its USB, and 2 parts, the OBD1 cable for 30 and the converter box for 50.

      i think i got the df file somewhere on a cd or my other computer somewhere im pretty sure i do

      hmm im guessing its going to be hard to find the 3.4 DOHC chip code. that is fully decoded?

      farmer ... chris ?
      i think im going to get the 65 mm ford tb and make my own iac adapter
      sounds like his code would be what i want

      im gonna love learning to tune...
      i'll master it lol

        GPXSS is the chris im referring to. 3.4 DOHC use DF code, and you can get the .bin file off this site.

        Make sure you port match the plenum for that throttlebody.

          shit wait, i think that the 16149396 ecm is for my old 88 cutlass cierra
          thats got a MAF+MAP, ummm isnt my 93 grand prix have the 727 or whatever?
          and its got a map....

          hmm now im confused lol, im going to have to go look at my car tomorrow when i drop off the tranny parts i bought.. grr suckin up all my money that 4t60-e

            what are you doing to the 4T60-E?
            Your stock computer is exactly what you need, so don't worry about it. You mentioned the code so I told you what I would start off using to tune it. You can use the 3.1 code as well. The DOHC is set for 23# injectors which is a bit closer than 16.6. Multec 2 3400 injectors can be used, I know how to set the fuel for those on a stock 3400. I also know the fueling for the 19# ford injectors (20.9# on our cars). It will get you started anyway.

            Don't bother tuning it until you get the injectors you want in there, in there.

              oOoo injectors, i think for now, im going to run the stock injectors that came with the 3100 lim

              i downloaded gmpcm and the $df.pcm file and the example bin file, wow there is alot in there to play around with

              still cant find that bin file your talking about

                you need BHAK if you want to use the DOHC code to start with.

                  hey hey, so im pretty close to the tuning stage now and im wondering if you have looked up the things you wanted to look up lol
                  i am waiting arival of my programmer and cable, i have gmpc registered and waiting to be used:P
                  heres my setup again..

                  2.8 block, 2.8 crank
                  3100 heads, ported, 1.6 rollers
                  469 lift
                  aprox 9.5 cr
                  3100 injectors
                  3100 u/l im
                  9396 pcm df code
                  3.73 gears
                  no boost



                  i'll get a data log as soon as i can, but i would like to calculate the fuel tables to the 3100 injectors, to get them closer BEFORE RUNNING MY ENIGINE
