  • Digi Dash Not working Right

OK heres the situation; My dads got a 1989 GMC S-15 Gypsy (a fancy Jimmy) and it has a digi dash thats kinda tempermental. Most of the guages work however the speedo rarely comes on (which makes for a very interesting drive as 5ohs are crawling all over this area) and the temp gauge sometimes comes on sometimes dont. Can anyone help me figure out wtf is going on here? I have heard rumors that early digi dashes go bad but I dont really want to hear this. Thanks in advance.
Tuning a car is full of compromises. You must decide if you are willing to give up either reliability, performance, or a whole load of cash. Also remember that repairs will seem to come up much more often as you strive for even more performance

my '86 cavalier has the digi dash. ive never had problems with it. but i also have had it in and out a few times so the connections have been excersized. maybe you just need to clean the contacts real good. the only time my dash went funky was because my alternator failed, and the car drained the battery. if your dash doesnt get a good stable supply of power it puts on an interesting light show, and then quits.

Maybe bad solder connections. Just a soldering Iron, solder wire and some soldering paste will fix that.
