  • Question

In my fiero. I am going to be using a modified TGP code to manage my twin turbo 3100. I have the factory 4.10 4-spd fiero tranny, which caused me to wonder...

Should I be running the 5-speed patch, or would a modified automatic code work better?? If the automatic is the best choice, what (if anything) should I change??

    Thanks, Chris

uh you want the "5-speed" pacth - it really should be called the "manual transmission patch"

might I seriously urge you to not use the 4.10 tranny or atleast not the 4.10 case.. its a very weak casing - and 1st gear will be all but useless with that muhc power - I recommend the 3.65 4speed still the strongest fwd manual tranny gm ever made IMO and you can get the straight cut dog engagement gearset still that gm used int he race fieros.

Hold on....calling the 4.10 case "very weak" is truly misleading.

Its true the 3.65 has additional outter webbing but as far as the 4.10 being weak its a stronger case than th x-11 4 speeds which had no external ribbing.

My 4.10 takes a full on 3.4 pushrod and a CF clutch...soon to be seeing a 100 wet shot. im also keeping it for my turbo dohc motor.

Youll be fine. youll want a good performance tranny like that for a rev moster.

This winter I'm going to be installing a Phantom-Grip, so when I remove the trans I may
        TIG in some additional reinforcements.

          that should help

part of my reasoning for the 3.65 and not the 4.10 is the rpm drop when shifting into 2nd.. the 4.10's gearing drops much more than the 3.65

for an easy comparison of transmissions just go to my excel file that you can change the RPM and tire size at http://www.viscoustech.com/downloads...ansmission.xls
