I was talking to Ben about them, and he said there used to be some links on GMF for some that are cheaper than $90 (AKM Cables). Does anyone recall these links? Thanks!!
You can check our sites links section, as we list several venders. One cable vendor that is rather new and comes highly recommended : MaStach ALDL Cables
Their cables only costs about $50 with shipping, so even though they are located overseas, it is a better value than many here in the states. The quality is excellent, and it can be used for both 160 and 8192 baud systems. Shipping is surprisingly fast. The cable also includes a CD with some very useful software and utilities.
So that will work on all OBD1 vehicles? If so, I think I'll get one from them. What software is included? Is the cable compatible w/ Freescan? Thanks for the info and link.
It's based on the MAX-232 chip, so it is capable of both baud rates, and that pretty much covers any GM OBD-I system.
The software is a collection of freebies, trials, and demo's for the most part, but it should save one time vs trying to locate somthing useful on the web. The cable should work with any ALDL software, but the software itself will likely be more specific to the ECM/PCM baud rate.
Its a small business, and they seem very atuned to customer satifaction. The kind of attitude that seems to be becoming quite rare here in the states. :-)
gonna hijack the thread for a second... does anyone have a link to the schematics?
I have the schematic for the simple aldl cable but i'm looking for the more complex (and hoping reliable/functional) cable. Must be freescan compatible.
thanks
