Why not just use a regular MAF and TB instead of the integrated one?
I wasn't sure that it would work. I don't know enough about these engines.

[edit] - Anybody know what vehicle I can grab a MAF from that would work with this ECU?

My thoughts were to just mod a 3in PCV pipe to accept the meter sensor.

        16196387

Hello (new member); I was the customer that requested Tuner Cat to create the 1FA calibration for the 16196387, TC's definition file works fine. Specifically mine is a 94 Buick Century with a 3.1L. I have a problem and I am either overlooking something or all of the documentation that I have access to does not cover this accurately, I am hopeful that someone in this forum can help: My Buick is equipped with a temp gage; which requires three wires which are labelled on the instrument cluster as follows:, I+ (Red, +12V), GND (Black, ground) and S (green wire, temperature sensor input). The gauge suddenly quit working, the +12 & Gnd measure fine, however, I see no electrical activity on the green sensor input to the gauge.

The temp sensor has a yellow and black wire which seem to go directly to the ECM which is working fine because the temp parameter looks normal when I monitor it on the ECM diagnostic port. None of the schematics that I have access to show where the green (sensor) wire at the gauge originates from. The schematics that I have are conflicting, however the most common reference shows a very simplified schematic indicating that the green wire is paralleled to the yellow wire at the sensor (which is not the case). My guess is that either the green and yellow wires are paralleled somewhere away from the sensor or the green wire is actually coming from an analog output on the ECM.

Assuming that the green wire may originate from an analog output on the ECM, I am going to swap the ECM with a spare; with the hope that an analog output is the signal origin that went bad. I'd really like to know for sure where the green sensor wire originates from if anyone knows.

Thanks to anyone who can be of any help,

          RE: 16196387

I don't know if the 3100 used the 3 wire sensor from the beginning or if it was used later, but it sounds like you have the same 2 sensor setup as a gen 2 3.1. There is a temp sensor on the lower intake and one on a cylinder head. The green wire on my old 3.1 was the one going to the head, and is the same on my DOHC...green wire going to temp sensor on front head. Id check for that 2nd sensor and see if that is the case. That or someone will hopefully reply with the 2 wire vs 3 wire temp sensor history.

            RE: 16196387

The early 3100s did in fact have 2 sensors, and the green wire does go to the sensor mounted in the rear head.

Thanks to the two members (sappyse107 & Brad) that replied to my request for help. It was just as you described; the gage is wired to a second sensor. The documentation confusion extended all the way to the auto parts store parts listings; the other sensor is listed on the Autozone web site as a "temperature switch" with no mention of a temp sensor and over-temp switch combo. Your advice of directing me to the other sensor was especially helpful because that second sensor was very difficult to notice due to a lot of emmissions related peripherals mounted in that area.
