  • Computer Tuning Help

I've searched all over the web for the 1228062 ecu layout, and the bin files for a 2.8 TBI computer for an s-10. Unfortunately I've found jack diddly..lol.. I'm trying to use Tuner Pro, because cats tuner cost money and GMPCM didn't have the PCM file for it. Right now I'm looking just to play around with the settings and see what I have to configure. But when I get closer to getting my swap complete(swapping in a 3.4 from a 2.5) and i know all the mods that Ive done, I plan on tuning it a little better.. if someone could set me on the right track I would be grateful... thanks Gary

I haven't played around with hacking the TBI stuff yet, but I do have a copy of a Superchips BIN for a '91 S-10 2.8 5spd, plus the stock ASSB BIN. I have figured out the main timing and VE tables, but that is about it so far. Not a whole lot different than the stock bin, mainly WOT timing advance.

First off, I don't think I have anything for the 2.8 TBI. Second, was that an error or are you doing 2.5 to 3.4? The 2.5 chip wont work with the 3.4. If its a 2.8 to 3.4, and the 3.4 isn't TBI, it again wont be of much help to learn its layout for your future needs. I would like to have these stock files to put on the site when I get around to overhauling the computer tuning section, and if we can get someone with assembly knowledge to help with decoding the TBI and iron head computers in general, that would rock. I haven't seen anything for them yet.

Nope it's no error...I moving up from a 2.5L, to a 3.4L.. But I did forget to mention that I have the 2.8 ECU.. lol.. As far as the 3.4 being TBI, I'm doing a hybrid..lol.. The fuel injection type from a 2.8 s-10 with a camaro 3.4 block for an easy 20% more in displacement and more power. The swap is on s-series.org. I mean its an easy swap, just use a stock 2.8 chip with 4.3 TBI injectors but I wanted to kinda tune it up just wee bit more and tweak it out. As for the super chips and the stock ASSB.bin, X11, are they for the ECU 1228062? Sorry for all the confusion. Everyones' help is greatly apperciated. Thanks.. Gary

According to Ludis' site http://www.cruzers.com/~ludis/c3xref.html All 2.8 TBI's from mid-'89 to '93 used the 1228062 ECU. I haven't verified the ECU number personally. The BIN files I have are from my dad's '91 S-10, so they should be the same.

I remember cross referencing that once before, but it didn't quite click before when I read your message..lol. What program did you use to view them? Also is there a way you could send me the stock file? Then the only problem I'll still be faced with is either getting an 1228062.ECU file to load in TunerPro, or finding someway to get the $4e.pcm File for GMPCM, but I haven't seen it, so there for I don't believe one has been created yet...... Thanks Gary

Here is a ZIP file with the BIN's. I just used a hex editor to view the files. You have to parse out where the maps are by hand.

Ahhh.. Thanks for the zips. As for the hexediting, I remember learning a little about that in my programming and networking classes, and HATED the math behind it..lol... I'm going to try, I guess, when I start feeling much better and much more patients to find the ECU file and maybe I'll get somewhere.. But thanks for the BIN files. Hopefully they'll begin to aid me in my tuning..lol.. Thanks Gary
