I have an '84 s10 2.8 w/carb and auto . I put an engine in it, and the "check engine" light is staying on. I cannot get any codes either. I think I got all the wires connected. What are the chances it is the computer? I did cook the insulation on the 02 sensor wire when it was too close to the exh. manifold, but I still have continuity on it.

FOUND IT
I found the problem. There is a seperate in-line fuse in the wiring harness inside the engine compartment. It is on the passenger side and the lead runs from that firewall mounted block with red wires that feeds the underhood light. I know I had power to one of the computer pins on my first check. The computer harness must have more that one hot lead. I get codes and the light goes out now.
