  • MSD boost timing controller to control spark

Getting close to about that time to boost my DOHC through either a turbo or an eaton m90 supercharger. The setup of the whole system is the last thing on my mind right now. There are 2 primary issues that have prevented me from going on and blowing my life and money away on this money pit....lol

1st issue: Controlling fuel; now this I can take care of through an FMU or even a air/fuel calibrator from splitsec.com so this isn't much of a problem for now....

2nd issue: spark; now this has been the bain of my project which is why I have not started collecting ANY pieces as of yet. I wanted to know if this would work in controlling spark on the DIS system....

Now it says it needs an MSD box but if you look at the bottom where you can purchase the items, there is an option for a Universal Boost timing master. Is this a standalone spark controller or what do you guys think it is?

Jeff knows about my DOHC boosted project I have planned but until I get all the preliminary things out of the way, I will not buy anything, xcept maybe an air/fuel meter from splitsec.com that uses a wideband o2 sensor and meter.

    Thanks for the help!!!!

Why dont you just get a set up you can program instead of manipulating things? I have no idea how you would hook up that MSD box but I would think that tuning the tables and adjusting the variables would make more power, run smoother, and be safer.

Before you go though and start buying things sit down and do some math?

Is a stand alone controller going to be more expensive then a: MSB boost box, MSD DIS box, FMU, A/F monitor? I honestly don't know, but I know you can get a Haltech E6K and or E6GM for under $1000. Something to look into.

the boost box is meant to work on a distributor ignition with an msd ignition box, meaning something like a 6al. it will not work with dis though, or any dis box msd makes.

there is good news though. you can put an msd digital dis 4 on your car, and it has all the little thing on it. rev limiter, launch limiter, timing retard, timing adjust, ect. i dont think it will retard based on the boost levls, but you could set it up so you get less timing at max boost, and can plot your own timing curve for the boost.
