  • Normal Values

    Hey everyone,

I've got an aeroforce scan gauge and I've been going through some of the parameters...

Some things I understand (MAF Flow rate, KR, etc.), there are other parameters which completely evade me and I was wondering what is expected and normal.

This isn't for the purpose of a tune but I take interest in understanding what all of these values should be, I more or less understand what they mean.

    - Trans Temp for 4T40E, whats good/safe? At what temp do you start to worry?

    - MAF Frequency

    - Manifold PSI at idle and WOT

    - KR -> What is typical on a stock tune, where do you start to worry?

    - Ignition Advance -> This one really confuses me, I understand in theory whats going on, however I haven't got a clue where this should be.

    - Pulse Width

    - Short term trim and long term trim

I just haven't got a clue of what the value should be for some of these at idle, driving, WOT, etc....

Car is a 2001 Malibu 3100 with mods listed below.

Ported UIM, 65mm TB, 2.5" catback, CAI

    Thanks!

Stock 2003 Alero V6, 30k Miles: Mostly WOT, hard to read the numbers for cruise there, but I could get a screenshot of the table at idle if you absolutely needed it.....

iirc, trans temp was between 120-180, but it never seemed to be too high, so I quit monitoring it

      Thanks man!
Looks like my advance is somewhat like yours.
Your KR is also less, mine maxed out at 9 degrees.

Whats weird (and sort of bothers me) is that your maf is flowing more than mine at similar RPM and some intake work done (TB, etc.)...
Does this mean something is wrong? I mean I don't think the difference between the 3400 and 3100 accounts for a bunch of flow mods?

By the way your Alero is awesome!

Thanks, I have 3 Aleros, that scan is of a 2003, which is stock but seems to run a little better than average. It does have a "slight" LIM leak, and I don't know if that's the source of the KR. Daily temperatures and air density changes can also account for variations, and the trans in the 2003 shifts much better than my stock 1999 trans did.
