My wifes car is giving me some troubles recently. It's a 97 Chevy MC 3100. Here's the scenario.
While accelerating from a stop the car does not want to change gears from first or second. It'll shift from first to second at around 3800 rpm every time. It'll shift from second to third at around 3200 rpm every time. Some times it shifts normally. While it's locked in first or second, feathering the throttle makes no difference, shifting manually makes no difference. Ah yes, occasionally the car stumbles on acceleration. Also, the gas gauge sometimes drops to empty.
Two error codes come up repeatedly, P0122 and P1635. I replaced the tps sensor, same error, same problems. I checked the voltage to the sensor and all the outputs were good. I unhooked the tps sensor, started the car, and it gave the same problems with shifting. It would not at all shift normally but at least the stumbling stopped though.
Here's my question, the next step on the diagnostics charts say to check and clean grounds. Is there a list or chart that shows where all the grounding points are? Also, p1635 means different things according to different websites. What does it mean specifically to this car?
Any other advise would be greatly appreciated as well.
