  • 99' Alero - 3500/4T45-E swap. DTCS/ECT

Time to start clearing out some of the DTCs. Saturday I'm changing the water pump (it's seizing from sitting too long.) It's suppose to be a nice day and my landlord said I could use his shop to do the the work. Want to work on some of the other lingering things while I have a chance.

The IAT is NIL. It shows up @ -38 while running. So i assume it's a issue with that sensor/the way it was wired in. The brake codes are the ABS pump I believe. It went bad (stopped working) in Feb 2010. I may get a replacement from the junkyard Sat as well.

The biggest issue I've noticed with it, it will go into abuse mode. Not sure what I need to disable/change to stop it from doing that. It does this randomly. I'm not burning out or hot rodding around when it happens. I haven't really beat on it yet. Want to get the water pump changed first. It's eating the belt and squels really loud. It also runs a bit hotter in town (max so far is 210F so not exactly hot but I believe it should stay around 199-205F) so I've only been using it to commute to work (roughly 8miles round trip.)

Last thing, any suggestions for increasing the transmission pressure? dos and don't/s?

Max pressure says 90. I was planning to start climbing +1 for each field and see if it behaved good/bad so on. If 90 is the max, what a safe max for the chart? Also do I need to modify any other tables prior to flashing?

Also with Abuse mode. I believe this mode is enabled when putting the car in gear. It feel like it's a really hard shift/slightly jams into gear making a clunking like noise. Either way it's very aggressive. There is a complete lose of power above 4000 RPM and from 2500-4000RPM (under moderate acceleration --- maybe 30-50% TP) it'll jump like the clutch is engaging and disengaging. If you run it 100% it will have little to no power above 4000 RPM and hit the rev limiter and not shift until you back off the gas.

Does that sound like what abuse mode does and if I disable it will that stop it from doing the above behavior? Or is there something else I should worry about?

Disabled Abuse mode and still the same stuff.

When it happens it appears I get [PCM] P1810 - TFP Valve Position Switch Circuit.

I found a stock tune for a 04' Grand AM GT /w 3.29 gears (mine is from a 05'). I'm guessing it might be a good
idea to copy all the details from that over. I notice considerably higher numbers on several of the tabs. The
shift pressure is also higher +1-10 except on 3-4 shift it's a bit lower until 100 ft/lb.

I'll give that a shot (it's going to take a hour just to change everything ----) however, I'm unsure on the
drive sprocket ratio. The Stock tune shows 1.000 and I have mine @ 2.930 (per lit I read online saying that was
the final drive ratio on the trans.) Should I just set this to 1.000 since the stock tune shows it?

EDIT: looks like you can save and load so that's cool
      Thanks!

Seems to be worse after. Odd. Maybe it's a fluid issue. It seems like it doesn't want to shift and once it does
it shifts real hard. Maybe it's having a hard time building up the pressure?
