ok so i got this Jet performance module for free about a year ago for my grand am. the kid just gave it to me cuz he didnt have his malibu anymore. he said he could feel the difference in power. it is the Dynamic spectrum tuning one. it has an assembly date from 2002 but i cant find a part number to look it up. it has one dial on the front that only turns left and right to one click. does anyone know anything about these? should i install it and see how it works?

Welcome to the site!
I personally wouldn't bother. I hate to break it to you harshly (I'm not trying to be rude or mean here) but there really is nothing that you can plug into the PCM that will give you the same kind of results for actually tuning your PCM for your car. Every car run out the door of the plant has a generic tune that is set for safety as far as engine control is concerned. They are never set up to run the engine at 100% of it's potential because the manufacturer doesn't have the resources to dyno every car it builds to set the PCM with a custom tune for that car/engine/drivetrain combo. I mean, pluging the Jet module in won't hurt anything- if it did, there would be lawsuits all over, and it may help somewhat, or it could be a placebo effect- really the only way to tell is take it to the drag strip (which can vary run to run) or strap it to the rollers of a dyno to see if there is an improvement.-60v6's 2nd Jon M.

well it doesnt just plug in, there is some wire splicing and other work to install it, there are 4 wires and a ground that need to be connected. i cant get ahold of the guy that gave it to me to see what exactly it does. it isnt like i paid for it, he said he paid $400 for it new. maybe ill do a dyno run with out it then with it, but i think i need other supporting mods first (exhaust and intake)

It's a piece of crap. I bought a Jet module for 250$ once (i'll admit to that) and ended up throwing it in the garbage.

throw it in the garbage or smash it with a hammer.
There is a good deal of satisfaction in that.

ok... here is where the wires go
red-fuse box
black-ground
brown-tps (there is a chart you can look at to figure out which wire it connects to for a particular car
grey-MAP or MAF input wire(again there is a chart to find which wire to splice into)
green-MAP or MAF output wire(^)
so i guess it is just a POS mod that is way overexpensiveLast edited by Talonted93; 04-09-2011, 01:10 PM.
