  • 94 GA OBDII swap

hey i have a 94 grand am and im tryin to swap it to a obdII well i got the harness out and put in new one and i put in a PCM from a 97 GA, well it is showing me a passlock thing, which makes my car turn off once it starts (shuts fuel off) it is showing passlock code.. well my car itself doesn't have PASSLOCK, but the PCM does how do i go around this to get my car running..

    thanks for help everyone

set the VATS to PWM and then turn off error checking for all VATS related codes.

Bypass VATS and let your car run.

passlock is vehicle anti theft system, and what I described has worked just fine on the 96 achieva using a 97 grand am pcm. I guess you will have to install a BCM and match the VIN if you can't bypass it.

Aren't you the guy that is having Milzy doing the swap? If so what all has he tried?
If Milzy is doing it, he would be using HP Tuners, however HPT can not modify the BCM only the VCM (PCM).

I would make sure that the VIN matches that of the car so it syncs with the BCM, set the VATS to PWM and try doing a security relearn by cycling the ignition. 15mins with key on then off for 15 and then key on for 15 mins and then try to start.

There may also be a way to disable the PASSLOCK by soldering in a resistor that matches the resistance that the BCM is looking for. Is there a Chip in the key? ... I know some GM of the 90's vehicles has the chip in the key.

no chip, and no vats.. but it runs now lol switched pcms and changed a couple things on wire harness then tuned it for the bigger injectors andpurrs like a kitten.
