  • Bench fire ICM

    Hey electronics guru's.

I wish to be able to bench fire an icm. It's from a 1994 GA, 3.1.

I only need it to fire 1 spark plug, preferably by the flip of an on-off switch. I was trying to figure it out today. I didn't get very far.

I'm working on an idea, and that is just one step to me working my experiment.

Basically, I'm trying to work with what I have on hand, thats why I'm trying to get a plug to bench fire. I've tried running leads to the plug, nothing, leads to the coil, nothing. I'm missing something here.
sigpicHow to make High performance Emissions:
A "true" High flow converter, straight pipe.
Low/No flow EGR valve, block off plate.
Carbon canister and purge valve mod, place in large 30 Gallon can, cover, and place curbside, the city will do the rest.
PCV valve and vent tube, reroute to exhaust to dump where it belongs, on the ground. Or add breathers and let it all free.

12V to the module and then something to simulate the pulses from the CPS, you could build a small timer circuit based on a 555 timer. or go with a manual approach and cut the 7 notches into a small metal wheel and rig up a motor to it, then a CPS to read it.

remember to heatsink the module or you'll kill it pretty quick.

to do that you need to know what you are doing, or the 555 circuit won't work either.

yah, you'd probably end up using 3 555's.. 1 to act as a clock pulse, 1 to act as the 6x timer and the 3rd to give the 7th pulse,

        pain in the ass.. lol

i say take apart a meat grinder, mount the crank sensor/wheel, and go nuts...

What about using the crank sensor and just wave it over a piece of steel?

too simple, and not much fun....

i say, cut an extension cord, wire it up to the plug, and plug the cord in!

Sure why not. 120v at 60 alternating currents per second might put on a cool light show.

well, mains cycle at 60Hz, so thats pretty much simulating a little over 3500RPM(with a spark every revolution)... i don't know if 120volts would jump that gap though...
