Not bad to change a chip, either. Two 10mmm bolts and 2 7mm bolts on the MEMCAL cover.

    • thats a LOT different than the W setup... all i need to change a chip is a 1/4" nut driver( or a screwdriver that takes attachments)

      • Hey Robert, have you drove the car any since doing this? Have you drove it and it shifted on it's own at all? Or just rolled it back and forth in 1st and Rev? I need to tune as my injectors are getting up to 92% duty cycle and I'm running lean at WOT, and also my AE needs upping with the bigger TB. So I'm starting to look close at this now and read into it.

        • interestingly enough, i just logged it moving back and forth today... picking up lots of knock though. not sure if my tensioner is fooling the knock sensor when it decides to smack timing cover or if it was because of how loudly a lifter was ticking due to me not running it in a while...

my initial estimation on fuel requirements were very close, no more than 10% change needed to get the BLM/INT +-2.

spark is whats worrying me ATM: i see the log it going from 12-24* sitting still with no throttle. not sure why its adding and subtracting 12* for no reason.... may have to take a look at my underspeed/overspeed tables and see if its making that much change...

may have the money to insure it/put tires on it/replace tensioner/(HOPEFULLY)replace the fenders and door.... soon. i'll know for sure if i managed to pick up employment at my former shop... making GM parts

MEMCAL cover... What's that? lol. I forgot to put the one back on in the 91 (and probably the 92) and ran it that way for a year or two. I know it's stupid to do but by the time I remembered I didn't have the cover on I had already driven it through the winter snow and spring rain showers. Then again, mine mounts cover side down (at an angle) and it also isn't right there at the cowl where water could get in. It's also protected from splashes by the huge earlier style coolant tank.

            • most if not all of the wbodies are like what you described...

and even though they are supposed to mount upside down, i have mine turned up for some fast-action chip swapping

              • update: found cheaper parts:

                12129025(White Plastic part) $1.78

                12129023(Blue Retainer) $.98

                12129021(Black Retainer) $1.15

                12129022(Clear Retainer) $.98

12129028(Strain Relief) $2.51, though they are not entirely necessary

                12129008(Blue Internal Plug) $11.74

                12186041(Black Internal Plug) $11.74

                12186043(Clear(Gray) Internal Plug) $11.30

                12084913(Female Pins) $.50

SO, with no strain reliefs, the total cost comes to LESS than $70 without shipping.

EDIT: FML, my math sucks... it comes out to 59.55 before shipping, with shipping ranging from about $7-10 from the USPS.

                • If you just want to solder the female obd1.5 plugs to the wires of the 9396 then that's just 3 parts for ~34 before shipping though right?

You got that knock figured out, might want to post what the issue was here.

and i'm sure we discussed this already(soldered pin harness you're refering to), but my memory of it is gone...

                      • Ahh, that knock. not sure which it was, if it was the tensioner, the lifter or because i have a VERY different spark table compared to then. or maybe its because i'm using the 3.4 knock filter? who knows? its gone now.

                          • not much to watch, it works. fully driveable, and i lose nothing at all except for SFI... big whoop.

isaac should have an L-body running on it soon though...

                                i guess that works....

anybody have an N-body that they are thinking about converting?

after that, all three platforms will be tested/worked out.
