  • Prom & memcal 86 2.8 7032

Got my new ECM and all has been fine but twice now it has run funny with the flashing SES light. Which means its not readin the chips right or something????

So Im on the hunt for a PROM & MEMCAL 86 2.8 7032 I guess.

Just regular old stock stuff is fine with me.

the SES light flashing isn't necessarily the chip itself.

SES light could be damn near anything. do you know how to put the car into field service mode?

and what do you mean by 7032? are those the numbers printed on the PROM?

and the GM part number for your ECM is 1226870. interestingly, its the same one used as the 85 IROC-Z28 with the 305TPI.... i miss that car

Did you try pulling the codes by jumping the connector under the steering wheel?

And BTW, it's the 01227302 robert ... MAF based, no knock sensor.

EDIT: Nevermind, it's you Gumby Did you do the same swap as 85blc?

No this is the flashing near stobe light flashing like crazy, which in many searches all come up as its not reading one of the two chips. Several had put in a new ECM like me.

This is not any normal code flashing.

Havn't bother to hook up the laptop to aldl it. [got pissed n parked it.]
All the post found say thr strobe like flashing is chips, unless its not???

Don't have a diff memcal to try, looking for one though.
Not sure where to find them new if not to much.

I couldn't find any of them chips when I searched.

Anyone know how important them letters after the number mean?

like the link you posted is

                        ECM 1227302 HNJ

Are several others too like that.

My old computer says 1227302 HNT on it.

New computer doesn't say much but

I was just startin some layout test for them vent the day before it went nuts on me.

Deciced to just flush mount them insted of recess. No metal work, just copy the shape of the hole in the metal part, cut that out of the sides and install the vents as is.

Getting a easy way to lay it out and make it the same on both sides seem to be the only real trick. No good measuring points.

Anyone intrested in what Im talking about here, see this
