on a tgp stock ecu, ive heard it runs very rich-what if a small (metered & thoroughly researched amount of resistance was added to the o2 sensor/sensors to trick them into reading slightly different? ive been trying to figure out ways to trick the stock ecu into running a little leaner, but not knowing it-while still not messing anything up or spending a ton on tuning right now, and the way i see it the car's o2 sensors/knock sensor are the only ways the car has of telling how rich the mixture is, as long as the mixture isnt altered enough to knock, i figure it should be fine-thoughts, ideas? i realize this sounds like that stupid iat mod, but im trying to achieve the exact reverse & not on such a "grandiose" scale (in the ebay claims they say 50hp & etc...)-am i wrong in this assumption?

Just my opinion, but I think you are just asking for trouble by doing something like that. If the sees it the engine leaning out, then it will add more fuel, which will make it richer than it needs to be. In the opposite direction, if it sees the engine starting to get too rich, then it will lean it out more than it should and you will start to get knock, in which case the KS will cut back the timing.-Brad-

exactly-but the way the engine actually "sees" how rich/lean the mixture is-is by using the electrical signal delivered by the o2 sensors, as well as using the knock sensor (im not really sure how that one works), is there some other way that the engine can see how the a/f is? i figure if the computer sees via the o2 sensor/sensors that the a/f is a little rich because of additional resistance, then by theory shouldnt it lean the mixture out a little bit, making the signals sent to the computer-what the computer wants to see. am i wrong in thinking this? oh and thanks a bunch for your help man, you are always so knowledgeable

it holds onto whatever BPW correction that it's using before it enters PE and adds that to what it pulls directly from the VE tables, minus any corrections from other random tables. the O2 is ignored.

There was something like a TGP "top gun" chip that a guy would burn new chips with revised code, fixing some GM bugs and probably leaning it out. It made more power on just a stock engine. Do a google search for that. There might be others out there with similar code that are willing to share for free or burn you a PROM chip for cheap.sigpic New 2010 project (click image)
