according to the DF definition, it has shift point values, which tells me i should have little/no problem with it.

and if it does turn out to be incompatible thats all the more reason for a 282/F40

and i thought the difference between a 4t60 and a 4t60-e was that the 4t60 was vaccum and -E was PCM controlled...

4t60-e is electronically shifted/etc. Only thing that is vacuum on it is the line pressure. What is DF code in?

As far as I know the 4T60E was introduced in 92 or 93 in the DOHC models... As stated, electronic shift and vacuum modulator... My 93 Z34 has a 4T60E in it and it is OBD1.... Have NO idea if a DOHC ECM would work for you tho....

Im still not clear on what harnesses to change, and that is the route I will have to go,too many colors for me to deal with And how many plugs does a obD II have?

            Thanks

check out on bstuff.com in the v6 performance section there is a writeup on how to swap just the engine harness to oBDII... it won't be the exact for your car but gives you an idea of what could be done.. You need to get a hold of some wiring diagrams..........

also the PCM that runs it is the one i mentioned before: 16149396

Ok i completely understand that this thread is really old (over a yr) BUT has anyone tried this yet? I thought about buying the correct cable and try finding software that works. I know the lt1 people are able to tune using tunercat and modded 16 pin aldl cable. Would the same software work with a v6? I just dont see why other aftermarket places can tune these pcm but its so hard for everyone else...

there isn't anyone aftermarket tuning them... maybe doing some mode 4 stuff, but that only lasts until you power off the vehicle.

and they are more or less similar to the 94-95 LT1 PCMs, just that no one with hacking skills has cared much to go through and define everything in the PCM. Mark Mansur mentioned adding in a function to allow flashing/reading of the LT1 PCMs in some future version of tunerpro, but i don't know how similar the command is. for all i know, it would pull the BINs from the E and T PROMs perfectly. then you have issue of documenting the code, which considering it adds up to 64KB, it doesn't sound like a lot, but it is.

oh, i thought i could send my pcm to pcm4less to tune? i was just wondering, i know the only options is aftermarket, obdI or II swaps as of now. i just personally think flashing is easier than burning chips.

they don't deal with anything older than 1996...

and flashing could be easier... assuming nothing happens during the flashing process that would otherwise corrupt the chip. if it does, then you're screwed, because you have to either go find/buy another good PCM to flash or desolder the flash PROMs from the PCBs and flash them in a EEPROM programmer, then either resolder them in, or solder in a socket due to the possibility of it happening again.

my main reason for even if i ever can get ahold of the 1.5 3100 BIN, i'm only going to be using it to rip tables/code out of to enable some of the things the earlier ECMs/PCMs are lacking in.
