offhand, does anyone know what ecu is in this car? obd1, 1.5? 2?

The infamous, untunable 1.5 version. Exactly what I bought to use primarily as a transmission controller for the 4L60E. -

If you have an auto tranny you may want to leave it in place and just "piggy back" the MS so that you don't have to deal with a seperate transmission controller.Comment

sure dont, either gona use the 5speed getrag, or look into a 6speed swap, if any are avail, something with equal drive shafts would be nice
i think i read something about people using the saturn redline tranys? dont remember if that was on a the new echo's or the 660's tho, have to look into it.

Why is it considered "untunable"? What makes it so difficult?
Obviously it's not impossible because a hypertech power programmer can change the program. As well as places like FastChips/Superchips.
I know there are a lot of other GM PCMs that people have hacked using ALDL to RS232 cables and custom software.
