I got the one from http://www.batronix.com The eprommer v3.3. Put it together, assembly was pretty easy. Tested it, and it worked fine on the hardware test. Read a few eproms from an old bar code scanner that looked to be about 20 years old, lol. Took the chip out of the 92, and read it fine (made a backup of it). Now the part that concerned me was one of the guys on the forum for the software that runs the eprommer said he had troubles programming the 29c256 chips, the same chips Ben replaces the stock chips with. Crossing my fingers I hit the write button, then had it to a check of the chip. It had no problem writing the chip. Now all I need is to make a parts list and order parts to make the ALDL cable so I can start tuning my cars.
BTW, I paid $102.48 for my programmer. That was for the kit, the power supply (would have built my own, but this thing takes 19volts, and I didn't think that $5 was too bad for a powersupply), a ZIF socket since it doesn't come with one (paid for 1 ZIF socket, recieved 2, lol), and shipping from Germany. Sure, I could have spent $50 more (I think) for a Pocket Programmer (I told Ben a long time ago I was going to get one and rename it the Pocket-Rocket Programmer, lol), but I like building things myself, and I do a pretty damned good job of soldering, even if I do say so myself. I also like to be different, too.
